I tried gov mode last night and the esc went into thermal cut-off within 5mins.... the esc was steaming!

Glad it gave a warning as that could have cost me big time
I'm using a 3s 1800mah 25c lipo... with the basic motor & esc... lipo was cool, unlike the esc...

10 0 10 (or there abouts) in all modes. The T-rex seems to favor a decent headspeed and I like it to 'feel' the same in all flight modes (normal, idle up and hold).

I went from a fixed pitch ESky Honey Bee to 10 0 10 on my first CP heli and have stayed with it. I learnt on a full pitch heli and I guess I've not known any different.
I didn't personally find learning with a full pitch range an issue and I haven't had to deal with any stick positional changes as I have got better (albeit very slightly ) if that makes sense.

Should have been 'with a normal straight throttle curve.....'

The mini-t does seem to require a good headspeed of at least 2500 IMO and from many other threads i've read on other forums it seems that it runs hot anyway but I've never had issues with ESC temps, just the motor for a while. As I have said the wooden blades a not very good. If you want to run woodies incase of a crash then the align ones would be better but you would then need the TT blade spacers.
