  • Hovering at an angle

    Hi,

Just started learning to fly the Mini-Titan (much thanks to Lee for the setup or it wouldn't of left the ground). However I crashed it and bent the boom and flybar. I was, of course, overjoyed by this so duly purchased the bits and put it back together.

Problem is I think I must of either broken something else or made a mistake as when I hover in it the helicopter is leaning to the right. I.e. it is say 5 degress from vertical. The good bit is I can hover it with no input from the left stick so something must be right...

    Any help greatly appreciated.

Really? it's meant to be leaning over a bit?

yes, the tail rotor i wanting to make the heli move to the left, so you have to have some right cyclic to counter act this.

its caused by the tail rotor pushing against the centrifugal force of the head. so the tail pushes one way the heli leans to conteract this

My Mini t hovers almost level nose into wind but turn it tail in to wind and it has a 5 deg.or so tilt. Whats the theory behind that one!!

And would it make a difference to the hover angle if the tail rotor was not exactly 90 degrees to the boom?

just a guess but nose into wind the tail dosent work so hard because of the weather vane effect tail in it works hard hence two different angles.

i believe in real life heli's do have there tails angled to cancel this out . just look at pictures of a cobra
