  • Minit Titan tail wag

    Hi

I have been flying my mini T for some time. Then a month went by without me flying. When I "started" the Mini T again for a flight, the tail keeps wagging when I'm in a hover. You can also hear the motor pitch changes the whole time with the wagging. It normally does this to indicate that the battery is getting flat, but I have tried 3 different LiPo batteries and all of them where fully charged. I use the Thunder Tiger motor that came with the ARF kit as well as the CPP Mixer/Gyro from Thunder Tiger that was also included in the kit. I have tried to change the GAIN, but this did not help.
Does anyone have any idea of why this would happen?
    Cheers

Very strange as it didnt do this when you flew it before... otherwise i would have said just turn your gyro gain down. How far out are you on the tail servo arm? Check your tail belt isnt too tight also. Has it been crashed before? Is it a fast or a slow wag? The noise will change as the tail pushes against and with the torque of the motor anyways, its normal really.

      Hi Lee.

Thx for the reply. I clipped the gate in the garden during a hover when I was learning to fly. I had to replace the main blades and the main shaft after that. Apart from that, I didn't have any crashes with it. It is a fairly quick wag. Can the gyro be on its way out?? I baught the heli in February this year.

Check your tail feathering shaft isnt bent. If youve bent the main shaft then id almost guarantee the main feathering shaft and tail feathering shaft are bent. Ive found even a slightly bent tail feathering shaft can amplify problems on the tail on this particular heli. Are you getting any vibrations on spool up? If you are getting vibes it could transfer through the gyro and show up as a problem on the tail. Stock gyros like the one your using are pretty prone to it to be honest. Stick a Futaba GY401 on it and you'll see a world of diffrence.

You guys are good! Thank you. I'll go and have a look and see. As you've said, I must maybe just get rid of the gyro and spend some money on the Futaba one.

Is it an up and down wag? if so then what Made2Fade said check the tail rotor shaft. Perhaps it got damaged in storage as its been sat around for a bit.
