  • argh sufering from the glitches, cheapest possible fix

    Hi,
Am having terrible glitches on my Mini t, ranging from a spazout to a qwick drop in power or increase, could happen 5 times a battery or may not happen at all but usually theres at least 1 spazout per flight.
    Tthis is setup

    Futaba t6exp TX
Robbe RX-600 reciver with glitch surpression
    CSM SL420e Gyro
    Futaba S3154 Tail servo
    Hitec HS-65HB clyc Servos
    ACE BLC-40 40amp speed controler
    Matching ACE Motor
    Base loaded aerial************************ possible problem
    Align 25c 2200mah lipo
    2 mysterys

Won from bay in brand new condition nearly. At first i thought the glitches was down to not having a ferrite ring on the esc but when i took it to the chopper shop they said i allready had 1 on, ( like a ceramic circle ), after abit of debating they decided i didnt have a clue and they didnt know what the hell i was on about, So whats this then ( pic ) as i thought that was a ferrite ring, had 1 of those on both belt-cp and king 2 and never ever once had a glitch but i cant find 1 to buy as i dont know what there called.
Best to try the cheapest solution first( i think)?

Allso the guy in the shop told me i was stuck with the glitches, sort of tough pap really cos there small ( and ) i didnt get that 1? considering both esky helis i had never glitched once.He allso stated that a 2.4ghz setup will cut out any glitches, i get that 1 but at £100 for the upgrade plus i'd need a new RX for my Raptor 30 its just not possible at the momoent, not for another 3 months :'(

    Thanks for any help

that looks like a ferrite ring. although not sure what the capacitor is all about. how close is your esc to the reciever? as this can cause problems as can having the reciever too close to the motor. if your after a ferrite ring try these

35 mhz is prone to glitches from the electric power system.
On these little helis its hard to get the components far enough apart.

You need to keep the Rx and antenna as far from the ESC and motor as possible.

You need to separate the wires from the ESC to the RX as far from the other servo wires as possible.

Also rough bearings and lose metal can make RF noise. Check for any rough bearings and make sure everything is tight.

recommend removing the blades and testing the range with the motor running slowly. Perhaps peg the heli down.
The 450 electric will not harm itself running with no main blades unless oyu run it too fast.

By moving stuff about on the heli I got my antenna down range up from 2 meters to 15 meters!

It is possible to get good enough performance with 35mhz. A shulze DSP rx is an alternative to the PCM. Rather than a glitch you get a lock out with the DSP and PCM - the lockout should be shorter with the DSP than the PCM.

The 146i PCM rex will work with only Futaba. PCM rxs have to be the same make as the transmitter.

Eventually after about 10 months of flyng with a FF7 and 146ipcm rx with no problems I started to get lock outs and decided to go to 2.4 (DX7). But then I found a very rough main shaft bearing which may well have been the cause of the problems.

Its nice to have 2.4 with small helis as you tend to fly them outside a club environment and you can't be sure someone else too close by isn't going to switch something on!

Check the spec of your RX, could be that the glitch suppression is DSP (digital signal processing), or it may just be dual conversion - if it has fail safe functionality then it is DSP.

Ah thanks peeps, i have tottally rearanged everything, doesnt look too pretty at the moment but it will help in eliminating things out i hope, got all electrics as far away from each other as is humanly possble, just waiting for the wind to drop now and i'll test, allways get a glitch so fingers crossed i can go a whole battery with no problems.
          Thanks for the tips

All sorted guys, first time , full battery and not 1 glitch
solutions- Moved the electronics around to new places, no more glitches, must of been interference from electronics in wrong place.
            thanks

              Hi BM,

Nice to hear of other Mini Titan flyers that are also in the UK
Good to also hear that you appear to have solved your glitches.

I've had my Mini Titan for just a few weeks now. So far the only times that I hve been able to get out and fly my MT, the wind has been far from ideal - blowing and gusty.

I've also experienced loss of power etc, but Im "hoping" these were infact just the wind blowing my MT around a bit - am waiting for a nice calm day to really get to grips with this great Heli !

Note, I'm also running an FM Tx/Rx (came as part of the kit), however hoping to upgrade to 2.4Ghz some time soon
