  • G4 starter shaft fail....

My mate who also has a G4 mentioned to me the other day that he had broken a couple of starter shafts part no PV 1556, well yesterday mine broke as well, so get a few spare ones so as not too lose flying time, I am going to try and use one out of my old 3D as I never had a problem with those, I will report whether it fits......

more or less how many flights did you have on the G4 before the shaft broke? Mine is fairly new (<10 flights) but I wonder if it would be better to stock on a couple of spares just in case....

Well the old raptors starter shaft part no PV 0360 will fit it is far more robust and weighs a bit more, may have too grind some flats on it though closer to the top of the shaft as the G4 cup is shorter than the old version......

Could have been that we had the 1st ones that came out funny how we have both suffered broken shafts, sheared where the shaft becomes thinner, I have a replacement so will try that...

I got the older version on the gamble that it would fit as no-one seemed to have the newer ones in stock and some elements of the old raptor will fit the G4 - conversly I believe you can make a G4 tail also fit onto the old Raptor 90.

i'm on my 4th starter shaft, now have the old raptor 90 shaft in there. combination of hidrolic lock and shaft and clutch not line dup 100%, think it is a weak point in the design !

I keep bending mine (thankfully I had not one break yet). I'm on my third shaft. Any tips on how to make the shaft and the clutch line up perfectly?

Its just a bolt in job and go fly...I have read that if crashed you can twist the bearing mounts so I suppose the clutch stack too...that would mess it up....
