I just recieved a PM from a guy on helifreak "I just experienced another rear servo mount failure on my nitro G4. Minimal damage." so I am not the only one...I will be making a set of mounts for mine...in order too make it safe too fly......

touching wood but on both of mine so far never had one fail...are you not binding the cyclic in flight with very strong servos the weakest part is going to be the mount.
      Cheers

I had a quick look today and theres no binding no nothing. I even had a go!!!

Kept watching the smoke trial lol and forgetting about the heli, very nice and smooth to fly so hopefully it will be fine from now on but it does have a beefed up support now.

Thanks Ben for taking it for a spin...the set up is the same as before I have changed nothing other than the mounts...the set up is rather docile even for my liking I set it up like that after the last time the mounts failed...I have added another washer in order too fit the servo further back from the mount...as the JR servo have a little sloping partition between the fixing holes and these may have been acting as wedges and putting strain on the mounts...i have also made up the 2 links as the kit ones are not adjustable...they fit nice...just trying anything really i am practicing the B schedule at the moment so it not going to be under any strain just yet....

message a received from a guy in America he thinks it could be Vibes....

            Hi jwatts007
Just had a rear servo mount break for the 2nd time on my G4. Going to do trouble shooting to see if some type of resonance is being set up. The problem I have is you pull the servo up during preflt and you can't tell if it is broke or not.Dave

Do you clamp the servo tight then put the links on or leave it loose to slide around, pop the links on then clamp down. The only thing must be strain on the mounts and its certainly something in the way your doing it to have three sets fail on you.

The holes in the mounts are elongated too allow a bit of adjustment...with the JR servo though this will not be possible because of the small sloping partition between the holes...I do not use the grommets maybe I should on this servo thinking about it...i made up a couple of links because I wanted to make sure I could adjust them...I think they came up 1/2mm or so longer than the stock ones...but that be due too the rear mount that I had made...

Didn't you get any of these spacers in your G4 kit?
The Futaba bls 451s have the same little tab on them and these shims work fine with those.

photo g4.jpgyes they are installed in this picture taken the 1st time the mount broke...I was unable to get any spares then as the model was new...so I had one made it is thicker so went with nuts and bolts to hold the servo...

I've just checked mine against yours and I don't have the screw into the tail box on my rear mount.

Maybe a few others could check there's to see if its installed.

I agree the servo is finding it out...if it is set up I can only think the numbers in the swash set up too create the 135deg swash in the V bar are not correct...I think most have just followed a post on Heli freak as far as I know..

correction could it be the distances should they all be the same and set too 100....

Changed the setting all to a 100 in the distance boxes (had too reduce the cyclic ring after doing this)...

120_-vs-135_-CCPM_.jpgThis is how too measure a 135deg swash...the G4s swash is the same as this...if this method of measuring it is used the setting in the distance boxes must be equal ie set at a 100...by setting the ELE too 70 surely things must go out of order...and cannot be correct....

The model feels great with the correct settings...100-100-100 in the distance boxes...I flew the B Test routine with it and it was so nice and very accurate...then flew my normal routine and after checked the ELE servo which was cool...the real test will be over time but it is my view that there is only one set of correct numbers too set the swash up...and with the new E820 now available it is important that this problem is resolved for safety reasons.....

This is how too measure a 135deg swash...the G4s swash is the same as this...if this method of measuring it is used the setting in the distance boxes must be equal ie set at a 100...

For the TT G4 measure it like this....

Its 28mm from the ELE ball too the main shaft...now put a straight edge across the front 2 balls and then you will find they too are 28mm from the shaft...now measure the distance between the 2 front balls...you get 71mm...minus 15mm for the main shaft leaves us 56mm...2x28....

if you think I am wrong please post how and why thanks.....

                                Another rear servo mount failure

                                Hello,

today the same part broke on my G4 during the last part of my autorotation.
Nothing broke except the servo mount.
I was shocked, this could have been far worse. Just a few meters in front of me and about a meter above ground ..... .

My dealer is closed next month so the G4 will be grounded for a while .
