  • Raptor E550/E620 battery tray modification

I've seen a few of these new fangled battery systems and thought about my raptor.

What I don't like about the raptor is having to remove the canopy every time you change battery. Then I thought well why not insert the battery from the rear rather than the front. There is a piece of plastic at the rear for structure rigidity, so I have drilled new holes and moved it to the front.

I'm afraid you've voided the lifetime warranty I was offering on this Raptor by conducting this mod Ben :-)

Looking good buddy. Hope you can push the lipo up far enough in the frame with the canopy on to get the CofG right, as it normally needs to be right up front.

    Cheers

Actually the before is from your old one and the after is from mine which is being stripped to rebuild.

I think the battery can be pushed far enough, plenty holes in the side, I'll also add some washers between the bottom shelf and the sides to give an extra mm for those new 5000mah packs.

Finally I got a little tinker time between work and sleep.

Here is the new rear view

And here from below, you can see I added 2 0.5mm washers to widen the frame 2mm to accept the 5000mah turnigy packs more easily, they quoted 49x49mm but one end is slightly rounded adding 3mm.
