As per tittle, do I need the antistatic mod on a rappy 50?

Yeah, in general it is the belts on helis that can create static but I have never had a static problem on a Raptor. You also need pretty dry conditions (low humidity) before you'll get static build-up and it's rarely that dry in this part of the country.

Like Steve said no need on a Raptor ... Not had to do it on any of the nitro's that I have flown that are belt drive either .. Think it is more on electrics than on a nitro model but someone that has had a nitro belt drive that I have not owned might have some more to say on the matter

You get tail belt static build up with very high head speeds, much higher than you could ever imagine on a 50 size heli. It's more common on 450 size helis running head speeds of 3000 rpm or higher. No chance on a nitro Rappy.

I never thought about the headspeed being a factor but the only heli I even suspected of having a static issue was a 450. It seemed to glitch at random on the ground though and not in the air, and then it would stop and not do it again for a while. I ran some bits of wire from the tail boom to the motor mount and that seemed to cure the symptoms but I never knew for sure if it was static.
