  • Raptor 30 problems

Hi all, I usually fly electric but have been given a raptor 30 Nitro (how lucky am I ) Have started from scratch taking it apart and rebuilding as nothing was thread locked, it's now all together. All the servo's work on the correct channels, and the controlls do what they are supposed to in normal mode. I came to setting it up in Idle 1 and have run into a major problem. When Idle 1 is selected, and you push up on the collective/throttle stick. The swash goes up ok, but there is no movement from the throttle (throttle moves when in Normal )Throttle hold is not INH on TX (Futaba T7C) and it works ok in normal mode as well. A bit lost so any advice would be great. Many ThanksGezz

You probably haven't selected a throttle curve for Idle 1 on your radio, you will also need to check what you have set for the pitch curve for Idle 1 on your radio.
Check out the website link below, loads of good info & advice for Raptors, hope you get it sorted.

Yup, sounds like there isn't a throttle curve set up in IU1. As said, raptor technique is a good site for helping get your setup right

IF your pushing collective up, the swash should be dropping !

Have you switched on Idle up 1 in the throttle settings, in mode B advanced menu.
That enables the three way switch E as your, normal /IDL1/IDL2 you don't have to use 2
You can then set your THR & Pitch curves in mode B
              Hope this helps

That must mean that I have a 50V2 not a Titan, as my swash goes up with the throttle, yet I have the Titan boom etc.
                My 90 swash goes down.

No you do have a Titan, my Titan swash goes up for pos pitch as does my my V2.
don't know about the SE, 90 goes down.

Tis confusing lol...ok the Raptor 30, 50v2 and Titanv3 have trailing edge control which means the swash goes up with positive pitch, then came the Raptor Titan SE (redline 53) which has leading edge control which means swash goes down for positive pitch. Hope that helps clear it up
The Raptor 90 also has leading edge control

Hi Guys, thanks for all the info I will give them a try, I am not to familiar with the Futaba TX, and the manual is not to clear. I use a Spectrum DX7 on my electrics. I do not have a governor fitted, is this a must for nitro heli ? I am not up to 3d brown trouser standard, just hovering and simple circuits so constant head speed is not a must at the moment, but one day my friends... one day........! Gezz

Hi Gezz - sorry for hijacking the thread a bit.
You do not need a governor on a nitro - I have one on both mine - the simple Align RCE G600 and it's giving me all sorts of overspeed issues on my 50 (whether Titan or not lol) when I come out of looping. To be honest, the heli performs better (at the moment) without it active.
The 90 however, has no such trouble. Weird!
