  • X50 and AR7000 connections

    Building X50Have DX7 radio, AR7000 RX
    Align G600 gov
    Align 2-in-1 regulator
    Quark Spartan Gyro

Unfortunately the gyro hook up page in the X50 manual shows JR and Futaba connections ....... nothing mentioned for Spektrum DX7.

    I'm assuming the following ... am I correct ?

    AR7000
THRO Throttle Connect Throttle direct while initial learning?
    AILE Right swash servo
    ELEV Rear swash servo
    RUDD Gyro Black Plug
GEAR - initially nothing - will be Gov sense
    AUX1 Left swash servo
AUX2 Gyro Red Plug Following advice in Finless DX7 video to set Aux2 as Gyro
    BATT 2-in-1 Black plug

I will not connect up Gov initially, as told its best to learn without it.

If I have this figured right then hook up will be :

Please advise if I have this wrong.

Yes that looks ok the wireing configeration for Specktrum is the same as JR the DX7 Transmitter was made for Specktrum by JR and the soft ware in it is very much the same as JR transmitters

Looks about right at a glance. If you have the governor, then why not get it installed and wired into the gear channel, but just leave it set to zero which is governor off. At least you can get it positioned on the heli and won't have to re-position everything later when you decide to use it.

The Aux 1 and Aileron channels are interchangeable but best to do it the way it says in the DX7 handbook I guess to avoid any future confusion.

I'll do that then ... good tip .. thanks.

Guys ... just had a thought come to mind as I carried out Bind of the RX

There is the Spektrum Bind harness (switch, power in/out etc) .... is it normal to leave this is as part of the on-board wiring, or only use it during bind and put on-board wiring as per my sketch.

The bind plug only goes in for binding.

Take it out after bind is done and refit the power lead into the Rx.

Still not sure what this means ... there is a 3-way harness & switch .... to carry out BIND I used this harness with Bind plug fitted.

              Once 'Bound' I removed plug.

What I am trying to understand is do I wire this harness into the Heli so power is routed through it always... or do I put the harness away until I want to Bind again in future and wire power form 2:1 direct to battery pack (as per sketch)

Sorry if this is a daft question.

Be very careful binding through the switch harness. Some 'cloned' switches will fry the receiver if you do it this way.

To be safe, you should always put the bind plug directly into the battery socket on the receiver, like it says in the instructions. Can't go wrong then. Plug the battery temporarily into any of the servo channels for binding. Once bound, re plug all the wires into the proper slots and put the bind plug away. The bind plug is not needed again unless you need to re-bind for a new receiver or something, or reset the failsafe positions if you've altered your throttle servo geometry or similar.

I must be being thick ... still unclear here.

I wired in the switch harness as per the diagram in DX7 manual .... carried out BIND all OK.
                  Removed BIND plug.

All that worked fine ... and servos all working to Rx

The question I have is do I 'permanently' wire heli leaving the Bind harness in situ .... or do I wire as per sketch, and put both harness & bind plug away until needed again.

                    Remove the switch too.

You will only need the switch or the bind process, as you don't have any free ports?l
