  • Oi Governor!

Guys - any light you can shed on this will be welcome

I have a Raptor 50 Titan SE with OS50SX Hyper and the Align RCE G600 governor.
All works well until I come out of a loop. I complete the loop, the heli rises towards a stall turn and as it turns, the governor seems to 'let go' and the engine revs increase noticeably. Once the heli is moving again and after a few seconds, the revs settle to normal. If I execute a fast banked turn to complete the loop instead, it doesn't happen. For further info, I also did a roll-out loop which seemed to create the same effect - big rise in rpm for a few seconds.
I recently changed all the clunk lines (main and header) with 'proper clunk pipe' and am happy that it works fine.
It's just an annoyance, but I'm anxious to track it down in case it's symptomatic of something bad. I have the same governor on my 90, which looped yesterday with no such issues.

    Thanks in advance
    Keith

Was the rise in rpm just a one off or does it happen every time you do a roll or loop? And another question... was it working fine before you changed parts on your heli?
    Long live the flybar.

It happens pretty much every time I do a stall turn to close out the loop and or a roll-out loop.
I originally had a CY ATG on the 50, but swapped it out for a more simple Align RCE G600 after issues that turned out to be linked to fuel starvation due to (the guy who built it & sold it to me) using fuel tube for clunk which was too stiff.
The new governor has always done this since I fitted it.

Have you checked the governor to see if the sensor is working properly as it should be??? it will be in the instructions!
its funny because I was about to post my align governor on for sale .
        Long live the flybar.

Sure! It works fine like I said, with just this one exception.

Does it do it with the governor turned off? How good are your throttle curves?

Engine could be a tad lean maybe and the governor is trying to do the right thing, but can't overcome the dynamics of the engine. Sometimes there's only so much they can do.

I have never used the Align gov but with some other governors there are still brief moments where the engine is suddenly
under less load, like when you go to zero pitch in a stall turn, and the revs can jump a little but generally it's not a
massive change and is only momentary.

Thanks chaps - I don't run with the governor off tbh Steve - so I'll have to give that a try next time. Throttle curves for ST1 & 2 are 54-54-54-75-100 (getting into loops/rolls etc - no 3D anticipated anytime soon).

The over-speeding lasts 3 or 4 seconds and it is exactly where the engine sustains less load, so that's a fair point Trillian. I would think it was totally ok other than the 90 with the same G600 doesn't do it. Could it be just different weight/power dynamics?
Thanks for the help so far
