  • Video of my Raptor!

I took my video camera to the flying club. No one there to film, so I placed it on the grass, and let it run. It's the first time I have started the heli and flown it - onn my own!

After the camera was packed away, I flew a bit 'harder'... pushing the boat out a bit, and loved it!

    Loved it!
Boring, but to me, it's great!

Yeah, the white does look better. Also, stickers were peeling off slightly, and wou;d have had disasterous effects on my hovering. The white makes it brighter and easier to see, I find.

                Well done Craig!

Looks nice and steady in the air (a bet you feel a lot more relaxed than when you fly your TRex). Were you hovering side on as well?
Good, confident flying on your first Rappy flight
                Cheers, Lee.

                  Thanks Lee!

Yes, loads more stable than the Trex 450, BUT, I think it's thanks to the 450, that I am feeling a bit better with my Rappy. The Trex was great for trying to control a hover.

A few times in the video, I get side on. I'm pretty happy side on with the nose pointing to my left. When it gors to my right, I am a bit wobbly. Not sure why.

When the camera was off, I was doing some pretty hecktic (to me) stuff. Short flybys in a confined area. (Over the heli practise area - about 7m by 7m. I'd fly from side to side, doing sharp turns. Was great fun! But feel I was getting ahead of myself, so returned to hovering.

Also, with my pitch curve, I found it is VERY hard to bring her down into the wind! I flew high (for me, which is maybe... 12 feet) into the wind, and wanted to bring it down to the landing area, but it just stayed up! So had to basically snake it down.

Loved it! A real buzz. I nearly get goose flesh when I do a turn and I get the coordination of elevator, aileron and rudder all working together to make a realistic looking turn.

                  Love it!

                    Wow! Good on yer.

Sharp turns turn into stall turns then its the loop. See you at Clubman 3D next year then!
                    Cheers, Lee.

Most people will have a favoured side or position... mines nose pointing to my right. Its normal mate. Soon as i found this out it made me concentrate more on practising with my non favoured side. Nice video... love the flying area, it looks sweet! What you planning on doing next in your progression of your flying?

I was actually out a bit in the hovers. I was hoping to fill the frame a bit more, but was drifting to far to the right of the screen. Will try get better videos soon.

                          Thanks!

Lee, I'm starting to do left to right passes, with medium stall type turns, and then back again. I'm getting the hang of it on the buddy box, but when I am solo, I'm doing left to right and back, but slowly, and pretty close to me. Don't want to smash it a week before it goes in the container off to South Africa...
