  • Clutch / Flywheel Nut Loose

I am hoping someone has some advice on my next build issue!

I have a TT50H engine with the standard Titan 50 fan etc. I have assembled it all but the main nut holding the clutch / flywheel assembly just keeps coming loose!

I have tried three times now and each time the engine fires then cuts out and I can see the fan has moved away from the engine casing.

I am tightening this thing as tight as i dare without damaging the threads - I have a piston locking tool and am really putting quite some torque on it with thread lock yet still it keeps coming loose.....

Any words of wisdom - is it worth trying a locking washer under the nut or double nutting it??

    Thanks

    Chris

Make sure theres no oil on the nut or the crank if you are using thread lock and plenty of grunt it should,nt keep un-doing ! give it plenty of stick with the socket wrench you wont harm the threads.

When you next add threadlock and tighten it up remember that the threadlock should really be left (I think it is 24 hours ?) quite a few hours to harden up before trying to start the engine.

Thanks all, I have cleaned it all with brake cleaner, run a tap through the nut and a die over the shaft so that it is all clean and have put it all back together with a bit of extra leaverage, will leave it for a couple of days now to set properly - my starter shaft head is starting to round anyway so i cant start it anyway until shops open again to get a new one!

        Thanks for the help

Sucess, heli starts as it should - now had a tank on the deck with it very rich. Just got to wait for a nice day at the weekend to try a first hover flight! One more question coming up on a new thread and then i should be armed!

Cool. Just dont force the engine over if you flood it and you should be ok now BEAR.
