  • Ball Link Sizing Tool - for X50

There appears to be a number of sizes for Ball Link sizers (reamers)

    Fast Lad Performance

    Fast Lad Performance

Both of these 'state' as being for standard 30/50/90 size ... are either correct, and any reason to choose one over the other ?

Just use a spare ball you have in your pack, scratch it up with pliers and use that as your reamer

That will work if you want a cheap and simple solution.

I do find that the TT links are very tight though and sometimes you need a more 'aggressive' approach, in which case I'd use this one :

I've tried others that were completely ineffective, but the JR tool has been great.

That is the one I'll get then ... always best to get a recommendation.

Bought Heli combo kit and Transmitter last week .... now just this list of bits today is so far up to £314 ... but at least ordering today gets me 12.5% off. 40 quid saved is welcomed.

I've just finished building an X50 so yell if you get stuck on anything.

Probably the only other tool that I used which I don't think you've listed so far is a 5.5mm nut driver.

Not vital as you can hold the nuts with pliers in the few cases where they are not held by a moulding, but handy to have as a lot of small socket sets don't contain this size.

I've never reamed a single ball link. Please tell me if I'm doing something wrong

If you've been building Raptors and not reaming any links then you've had a very stiff head on your helis.

Thunder Tiger are well known for having the links a little tighter than they need to be (not as bad as Compass though ).

The links will ease up over time but it isn't good to be flying with the head as stiff as it will be without a little reaming.

Sargan, do take great care to do it a little at a time though as it is very easy to over do it.

Good explanation of the process here : http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=...l_Links101.wmv

I have the JR tool also which I used on my Atom so I can confirm that the JR tool works very well and also that the compass links are unbelievably tight lol
