  • Battery - what size ?

When I asked for suggestions on kit list...was suggested to get Align 2 in 1 regulator (HE50H09 RCE-G600) and couple that with OUTRAGE 5000mAH - NRGRX-50002 battery.

Is 5000mAH the right size I should go for, just that I had an email suggesting I take a look at a combo deal on FastLad site.
This has same regulator but the battery is only 1900mAH

What size battery is 'optimum' (X50 build)

Using 3 x DS190 main servos and DS650 tail - assume to be the main current hungry items.

(Hope splitting my Q's out on separate posts is considered normal practise on this forum)
Some people will always find fault - if you find a typo, consider it put there for you.

I would finish your build and check out the COG before running out to buy a 5000mAh battery.

The X50 places the battery tray way out in front so you will find that hanging a huge battery off the end is going to make it very nose heavy.

The standard Align battery will probably fit the tray quite nicely, but personally I would prefer a slightly larger capacity.

Where are you planning to put the 2-in-1 btw?

I have no idea :-) kit does not arrive until Weds.

I'll take your advice and not order battery & regulator yet.

I'm still not sure about the Align auto -Glow vs PushGlow/SureGlow

I used the 2in1 and the 1900mah lipo on my rappy, would get either two or three flights per lipo. I would also agree a larger mah lipo is a must but again as suggested check out the cog to see what you can fit.

          two philosophies.
Fit a big battery and fly all day without charging (3000+maH).
Stick to a small battery and keep it light - 3 flights each pack and use a spare.

The 1900 is a bit small. I use several 2200, but some of them are made of old trex 450 packs 3s2200 packswith a cell cut off, so aren't the full mAh.

On the 2in1 the lights are a bit pessimistic, so you can take a flight with just the last two on, no worries. Just check the pack level on your charger afterward and make a judgement.

In the cold the batteries don't last so long.

When i had the rappy i used one of these,
            Fast Lad Performance
Don't know how it would work out on a x50 though.

I'll let you know shortly as I've got one of these laying around already.

Just waiting for the rest of my electronics to arrive from Fast Lad so I can complete the build and check the COG.

I've seen one post elsewhere that suggested they were nose heavy with anything much larger than the standard Align battery, but I want to test that for myself.

Also, the battery tray is only around 80mm long so I'll have to do a little surgery to the end to allow for the larger pack
