  • Next Q ... The build spec

I recently asked some questions which confirmed my direction for first Heli to be a Raptor 50 Titan SE.

So next step is to start putting together my parts list ..

Hope I don't bore people with these posts, this one is about the electronics.

Assuming I get standard Titan 50 SE and buy it with Redline Pro-53H engine ..

So the next Q is what servos ?
I think I understand the number units I need, and I have seen a post that recommended some servos for the 50 and gave the Futaba numbers in brackets.

Collective (9255) as it needs most torque
    Cyclic (9252)
Rudder (9251) along with GY601 Gyro
    Throttle (S9101) along with Governor (GV-1 )

I have no preference on what make the servos should be so welcome advice on make model etc.

In case my use makes a difference ... beginner with no aspirations of 3D, sport flight only.
Some people will always find fault - if you find a typo, consider it put there for you.

I would pick none of what you have listed, 1) due to cost and 2) much better stuff out on the market now.
    Cyclics, all 3, Align DS610's
Tail servo, Align DS620 or DS650(650 is better and the same money
Gyro, either a Align GP750 or Spartan or GY520
Throttle servo, i would go for a futaba 3152
Gov, align Gov or CSM RL20 or 30 (align alot simpler to set up and works very well).
Also i would recommend a Align 2 in 1 reg, with onboard glow

So no need to have higher torque on collective servo as read elsewhere ?

This is why I'm asking you guys ... great help.

I had got some of the stuff on Futaba from this site and also from Raptortechnique, but maybe it is out of date as to what is currently the best.

Yes it is out of date, things have moved on, the aligh DS610's have plenty of torque, i run them on my 700 and was in my raptor 90se.
The futaba range has moved on, you could get some BLS451's but for the money difference, the aligns have more torque, quicker and cost less.

Chris ... you gave links to FastLad ... are they considered to be the best for price ?

Thinking of ordering Raptor combo kit & all electronics at same time.

Rest after I have built up.

fast lads is considered quite good on prices, i just find there site easier too, LOL,

                also noticed this,

The BMFA Classified Ads Service / New X50 ccpm raptor kit nib

                the new x50titan from TT

but saying that, you could just get a vision 50 competition, excellent performance and excellent price for upgraded model

                http://www.evorc.com/product.php/513...e-edition---xe

james would probably advise on this model aswell

As we have now 'decided for me' (appreciatively) the servos to use ..... one thought came up last night - while looking at FastLad site ... they no longer show Titan 50 SE, only variants of X50.
I can obviously get Titan SE elsewhere ... but should I consider getting the X50 ? ... it seems to have many of the extras that people add ... metal headgear, carbon frame etc. The TT web site (& reviews) advise it can be setup for smooth & stable (i.e for me to learn) or reactive all-out 3D.

Worth paying the extra - or is this overkill .. and I should stick to Titan SE choice.

For a first heli I wouldn't bother with the titan se and go with one of the lesser Raptor 50 - they are still very capable. My Titan SE had a number of issues, mainly revolving around premature main gear wear - i have a long running RR thread on this issue.

The X50 looks good, but I discounted this for my own personal reasons - mainly that this model took an age to be released and I'm impatient

If you an afford it for sure go for the x50, should be an excellent heli.

If I went for X50 instead ... that has eCCPM, does that make the 3 x DS610's mentioned above still valid ?

It actually makes them more valid

On the Titan SE they were over-kill as you only really need that sort of power on the pitch servo, on the X50 you need 3 matched servos due to the eCCPM.
