  • Irvine 36 power band

What is the best rpm setting for an Irvine 36 to gain max power, got 9.5 gear ratio in a Raptor 30 and if i set the rpm at 16250 to get a head spead of about 17000 there does not seem to be any power left.

Set your motor speed to 17500 with a ratio of 9.5 will give you a head speed of 1842

Is that not a little high? my 50 only runs at 14500 seems a big difference.

I suppose it all depends upon what you are doing (flying style). For 3D your going to wan to coax as much as you can out of the Irvine, if it's sport flying then 1842 is about right.

You say the 50 runs 14500 with a ratio of 9.5:1 that equates to 1500 ish which seems a little low. But it's what you like I suppose

Sorry my 50 runs a 8.5 ratio at 14500rpm, that was my point is the difeerence in rpm, will try the 30 at 1842 and see how it goes.
                  Cheers

I am running my trusty old Rappy 30 @1600 headspeed in normal, 1700 headspeed in idle up 1 and 1800 headspeed in idle up 2 I use the Airospire govenor, so setting the exact head speed is a breeze. I find the hover is solid, and flies sport perfectly in idle up 1, as for idle up 2 Mmm have fun. I used to use the CSM revlock 20 but found the settings a little limited and random. You also need to create that equation chart to find the head/rpm speed combinations.

Is it national save fuel week or something 1700 is for idling

Crank that up to about 1900 and see how it is.
