  • Raptor 30 to 50 convertion

I am going to convert my lads raptor 30V2 to a 50 size.
What stuff is needed to do it.
I have the engine and some better servos to put in it, obviously the boom and belt need changing, but what else like the gear ratios need doing, is there a kit still avaliable to do this.

I have done this exact thing! (almost) I had a Raptor 30 and a 50 and decided to retire the 30 as I just wasn't flying it enough and spending more time with other helis. I also had a Raptor 50 with an OS50 pre-'Hyper' engine. So I put the Raptor 30 boom and blades on the 50 and put an OS46 in it. I could have left the 50 boom on but had a 30 boom in a matching colour scheme

I haven't flown it very much actually but it does work quite well and fits nicely in between the 30 and 50 in power and fuel consumption.

the one thing thats been missed off the lists given is the fan hub
if you don't want the driven tail you can leave the 30 main gears in

                and as it's your lads
he needs a nice new shiney canopy to go with all the other bits or it'll just be his old heli

I wish I could get my dad into the hobby He has no hobbies, and it would mean sneaking new kits into the house a lot easier - not that it stops me now, I just tell them how much I spent and they ask no more

You can do it in stages, I have completly upgraded my 30 to a 50 now but I first changed the engine, mount and fan and flew it like that untill the next crash when I then replaced the boom, belt and blades, the gears were then replaced at a later date.
What I am saying is you dont have to do it all at once.

the other way around is whilst still flying it as a 30 when you crash just fit the 50 boom, belt and rudder rod on it
it kills two birds with one stone
unless you crash again before fitting the 50 motor

Could you fit the 50 engine into the Raptor 30 with a governor to give better head speed control ?
