  • Tail gearbox help please...

    Hi All

Just rebuilding the tail gearbox on the Rappy and noticed when I assembled the tail output shaft into the gearbox casing there is about 3-4mm float (see the flange on the red tail pulley). Is this right?
With the belt on, it follows the idler wheel and that holds it in position but under load it must move which would alter the tail pitch as the shaft would move. Also, this would wear the edge of the belt as well?
Or am I worrying over nowt?

Please help - I am confused

Seem to have seen this before -- I think you have the pulley on the wrong way round -- Applogies if I'm wrong but have a look and check against the manual.

If it's not fun, your not doing it right !!

I don't know what I would do without Heliaddicts!!

You are quite right. The pulley is two piece and I had put the two pieces together with the flange side back to front so the larger boss was inside the pulley. Five minutes later and all the play has gone.

Dave - you are a star

      Thanks,
      Cheers, Lee.

                  It's funny isn't it...
Sometimes the smallest thing just causes a major bout of head scratching and then a fresh mind with a different perspective comes up with the obvious straight away.

                  Thanks Guys.

The Rappy gets a test fly on Sunday
One of my mates is bringing up a Zagi and said I can have a go I better take some glue / gaffer tape / cash with me
                  Cheers, Lee.
