  • Engine cut!!!! Please Help

    Hi All,

Just been out and flown my Rappy 90 OS 90 C-Spec PS. Was having a great time. Loads of power, inverted hover, little bit of tic-toc. Came in for a slow fly pass and the engine cut. Managed to auto down. Phew!!!!!. Took the plug out and the element has been burn't away. What could have caused that?

    Any Ideas?????

    Cheers
    Cheers Matt

Engine overheating or maybe just a knackered plug

Wrong grade of plug for that setup possibly

Running it too lean. Do you have a filter on the fuel line? Check it's not partially blocked.

Do you use a glow stick or a power panel? - power panels set on the high side will blow plugs quicker.

Use Enya, they go on the ground.

Thing is I thought it might have bee to lean. However after I replaced the plug I ran it richer at the top and bottom but really suffered in the performance. As Ade suggested I have widened the cateye out and then leaned the bottom out. Perhaps I need the go more on the cateye midrange.

Thinking about buying the third needle valve. What do you reckon?

the idle mix affects the midrange mix too.

start by richening the idle until it pick up badly idles unreliably then go and hover it at idle up speed for 30secs land check temp then lean if its cool lean the idle mix

keep doing that until the idle becomes reliable and it sounds nice and is still cool

then do some power climb outs lean until it starts to get warm and produces powerrecheck the hover temps and idle reliablity

Do you know what temp the eng should be or are you after testing it at the crank case end?
