  • JR8700G and GY401

Just a heads up to anyone trying to use this combo............DON'T. The servo is not digital, and it moves full pelt to one side, when you power up the RX!
I found out...after trying to perform a marriage of the 2

Hate to be the bearer of bad news mate but the 8700g is digital who told you that tosh!! Its prolly one of the best digital tail servos available. The problem is with the gyro, Futaba in their infinate wisdom are trying to corner the market and make only their electronics compatible with other futaba stuff. Hence the stupid tabs on theservos andthe fact you cant use other make servos with futaba gyros with the 501/501/601/611 you can get around this but unfortunately on the 401 you cant because you cant access the programming. If you want a tail servo to go with the 401 unfortunately your choices are 9254/9257 or 9650. I have just bought a 9254 for £30 so its a cheap option and you could sell the 8700g to fund it. If you wanna sell it pm me ill take it off yer hands

EDIT the 8700g is not a digi servo just a bloody good analogue one, my mistake

nope, 8700 isnt digital, its analogue but a super servo. The reason it doesnt work on the 401 in digital mode is that it cant handle 333hz frame rate, only 250hz.

it will work with a 401 in non digi mode if your really stuck but your going to be better off with a 9254 in the long run.

8900g is capable of 333hz so will work.

xygax has a point... you could buy a new servo to go with the 401 or buy a new gyro to go with the 8700g.

Did you set the pilse width to 1520Us or 760Us (by default the 8900 needs 1520Us) Things like the BLS251 need a 760Us pulse.....

Sorry to be dumb on this.

An 8900g is a digital servo and the 401 has a digital setting.

                              I have a spare 9254 I can swap with the 8900, but why won't an 8900 work with a 401?

                              Thanks
