  • Tail advice

    Hi Folks

I have changed the standard tail on the Raptor 50 to the Thrust Bearing Trex 600 version.

No problem there except me the 'numpty' decided to also buy the carbon Trex blades to make sure they fitted properly in the grips.

They unfortunately extend below the tail fin

What would the more experienced Raptor chappies advise.

Get shorter blades or keep the blades and extend the tail fin?

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Cheers

    Hi Mark
I had the same problem when I put NHP tails on my Rappy. I was lucky that a mate had a broken fin that was the same as mine and I extended the bottom of it. Saved grinding them into the ground

      Thanks Lee

So that's one vote for keeping the blades and extending the fin.

        Out of interest.

Are there any issues fitting 95cm tail blades to the Raptor 50?

They make a rather large disc.

        Cheers

That's what I had fitted. no issues except they got a bit muddy (until I extended the fin that is )
First had NHP closed end ones and then Radix. Radix were better but more expensive

A raptor 60 fin or similiar is perfect.. you only need to drill one hole

I used to use 95 when I had my Raptors. I can’t remember what make of fins I was using. I think you can get longer fins.

FYI The Captain Crash fin is 125mm from the bottom bolt hole to the base of the fin. This is the same as the standard fin on the Knight and I am using 95s on both of my Knight.

                  Hi Simon

Would the Captain Crash fin give me enough clearance for 95 blades on the Raptor?

If so this would be the solution.

                  Cheers

I have just spoken to Chris (aka Captain Crash) and the fins will be ok with 95mm blades. He was using them on both is Raptors with 95mm blades.

                    Cheers

I got s couple of spare Airskipper G10 fins that might fit with a bit of fettling maybe. I have 95mm Carbons on my Skippy and they're clear of the ground.

                        You're welcome to try one.
