  • TowerPro MG995 or Futaba S3003 Servos

    I have just bought a Raptor 50 fitted with the TowerPro MG995 Digi Hi Speed servo's but i can't find any reports on them in comparision with the Futaba S3003 which i have and can fit if they are better. Can anybody educate this new boy, should i leave alone for now or are one or the other significantly better.
    I have an Esky CP Belt brand new but got fed up with charging the 2 - 1800mah batteries up, anybody want to make a sensible offer, with ali case and spares. Will provide more info if asked, will be putting on e-bay soon but would rather give you guys first refusal. Its been out 3 times, hopped about floor a bit then home for charging.

      Yep, your right Kevin, the 3003 is a standard anolouge servo, Think the Towerpro's are ebay jobs, however, if they are digital, as they aledge to be, they should be better than the 3003's. Just found this an all

      Dimensions: 40.6 x 19.8 x 37.8cm
      Weight: 56g
      Speed (4.8V no load) 0.17sec/60°
      Speed (6V no load) 0.13sec/60°
      Stall Torque (4.8V) 9.0kg/cm
      Stall Torque (6.0V)11.0kg/cm
      Temp. Range -30° to +60°
      Dead Band Width 4ms
      Operating Voltage 3.5V to 7.2V
      -I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

      A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
      A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
      And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

      And a DX8 too

        Do not use 3003's in a nitro heli as they are not meant for them.... If you are gonna use cheap futabas run 3001's as these are indirect drives ...Personally I would use something like a hitec 635, 645 on cyclics and a 6965 on tail ...ya can use a 3001 on ya throttle but thats about all they are good for I run a mixture of futabas 3152's all round apart from 645 for pitch with a 6965on tail for my scale ... My hawk runs 645 pitch and 635's rest with a 6965 tail again ... My nexus still runs 3001's all round apart from tail and pitch which are 645 and 6965 tail ...Soon to update to 3152's all round as I only used the 3001's to test hover it and run the engine in ....At the end of the day Ya would be better off with better servos and they aint that much more money than the 3001's ya pay for what ya get ... Seeing as i dont do the 3D the servos i run are fine

        futabas = 3001 and 3152
        Hitec = 635, 635 and 6965

          Yep I second that, S3152's are as good heli servo's as you will need for a long while, I run 3 on my sceadu, and will run 3 on the Eccpm on my knight when I get it ( which ain't long now, 1 week to go)

            Not sure i am brave enough to change them yet, and don't think i am ready to be spending another £100 on servo's for the 3152's until i need to. Would have dumped the Towerpro's if the 3003's had been better, but on basis it aint broke dont fix it, i think i will leave it for now.

              Hi just to let you know that i bought 2 mg995 from ebay for my monster truck and they are terrible i would not use them in a helicopter.
              They take 4-5 swings to center moving maybee 1/4 travel past center then back again till they eventually stop and torque is nowhere near 15kg . Poor servo in my opinion. Definately not for helicopters.

                I get the feeling that even though the 3003's arent the best they may be prefereable in the short term to leaving the MG's in from what is being set about the action of the MG's

                  3003 arent designed for helis, I wouldnt use them in anything. if your on a tight budget then get a 3152 for the collective and 3001 on the aileron and elevator.

                    More Questions than Answers

                    How would a OS 32 engine perform in a Scale 50 Raptor, a spare one came with it when i bought it but doesn't sound like it will be big enough to do the job, even for a novice like me.

                      If you change the other bits that convert a 30 into a 50 (the other way though - i.e. convert a 50 to a 30) then it should work fine.

                      Cheers,

                        hiya

                        would the 3152 be good all round on a raptor 50. What would you recommend for a tail servo

                        Regards

                          yup 3152 are great for sport aerobatics, just lack a little speed and accuracy for full on 3d.

                          Tail servo would depend on what gyro your using. If your using a 401 then get the 9254 combo.
