  • N9 headspeed question

Hey people, am running a align 91h mp6 on my n9, just wondered if any one is using a align gov on there one?? The engine max power is 16000rpm, cldnt say what gear ratio is in the n9 either as its 2nd hand, anyways, ive set the gov for about 80atv which is 16000 on the engine, using 20% rapi in it, just cant seem to get it right, 30% it was rocking, but as the ely q is gone ive got 3, well no, done a bottle yestday, so got 2left of the 20%, and idea?? Run slightly above the top end power?? Or just below??? A lil help please people lol

You wont get it to feel the same on 20% as you would on 30% and I doubt whatever you do head speed wise will make much difference, try selling the 20% and by the 30% in its place.

Get yourself a tach and set it to 1950 on the head and watch the Synergy come alive!!

No, don't need to give it any info other than an approximate guess to current HS. Get away from this computer, and I'll see you at the airport 

80% was dead on 1950 on the head, now i need to lose the align gov, doesnt keep up at all!!! My mate tach'd the hole flight, it went up and dwn like a yoyo!!!! Lol

Unloading the head and it went up to about 2070, load it up and it dropped to 1820, gonna try a faster servo in it next time, and yes jamie, i was trying to be smooth lol

You will always get a bit of overspeeding pete, just as long as it's not crazy, don't worry about it!

As for gear ratio, check the gears and work it out, main gear will be either 124 or 126, and the pinion will be 15 or 16. Set the governor for just over max power so that when loaded up it drops back on to the peak power.

Flying 20% is no bad thing, it will improve your collective management!

Well the engine manaul say 16000 rpm peak power and 80% on the gov is 16000 which gav me bang on 1950 in a hover, its a align 91h btw lol u might kno something better lol

a friend commented only last week that he got his N9 now working properly on the YS 91 SR with a different pinion, geared it for lower motor RPM (I think that means more teeth on the pinion).
And I have seen it, it rocks, on 30 % nitro.
Send me a PM if you're interested in the details, and I'll ask from the owner.
