  • Setting up BX

So I got the FBL head fitted last night, should I use the N5c FBL head pushrod length measurements? I think with me fiddling I've adjusted rod lengths and it all just doesn't look right! Not too far off, but you know what I mean!

Not fitted the BX yet, but when the heli is powered up, if I put a fwd/back elevator command, the head looks to have a tiny amount of aileron (with the blades inline with the boom).

But it looks mighty sweet missing all the fly-bar stuff!

With the Beast fitted and working. Menu point G allows you to centre the servos and gives you a reference to set 0 degrees. When in here make sure when you set 0 that you have one of the servos selected, with the leds off this is the servo centre and not the BeastX centre.

Will probably make sense when I get the beast fitted and start setting it up!

I generally try and get the mechanical side set-up as best I can before I tackle the FBL unit, this should be relatively easy as your just converting so the mechanical side should be pretty much there. Work from the servos getting them centred etc., then set all the linkages etc up to the head and with the servos centred you should get 0 degrees of pitch on the head.

When you come to installing and setting up the BeastX it should make things easier for set-up as your not having to tackle both the mechanical and BeastX set-up together.

With the N5 FBL Head it is worth checking and making sure that the FBL Washout assembly is inline with the head so no offset is present, also set the height of the washout hub so that the arms are not perfectly horizontal, instead the correct height is gauged but the washout arm and the plastic link being at 90 degrees with each other. (I'll sort a picture to show this later.)

Hope this helps, and if you need any further help just give me a shout.
          Thanks!

Personally i wouldnt touch the head mechanics until the beast x is fitted, if your going to use a swash leveller then youll be removing it anyway. As has been said, work from the servos upwards. Its quite easy once youve got your head round the beast x manual.

Yeah it does look more complicated than it probably is! Most likely written by the same people that write out Tech Pubs for Typhoon!
