  • N5 for 700

Just toying with the idea. I have had my n5 rebuilt and have had about 10 flights through it, BUT im to bloody afraid to fly it.

Ive been toying with the idea of swapping RTF for a T-Rex 700 rtf

    Spec is as follows

N5 with pinned boom by J platts
    radix sb main
    radix tail
    Spectrum Ar7000 rx
    jr8915 cyclic
    Align 2in1 reg (new)
    Align 650 tail
    Align gp750 gyro
    Align520 throttle
    Model Avionics rev max limiter
    align 2in1
    O.s55 (stainless bearings)
    O.s powerboost pipe
New low profile skids + old high ones
Well worth £650+ In Excellent condition

    Any intrest please pm me.

Sorry if it breaks any forum rules please move thread if neccessary.

    Thanks for looking in.

The problem is Ross, the spares prices compared to an Align. My N5 is going unfortunately, I like the way it flys and in fairness it's going for a 600E but I can see what Ian means.

Fuel costs on a 700 compared to a N5 balance out the spares imo.

I suppose that has to be taken into consideration but the N5 is a 50 sized model and in comparison expensive when compared to the 600. Ian is looking at the 700 yes and the fuel usage and cost will be more, especially things like blades etc. But what we're saying then is that you could run a 700 for a similar cost to an N5, sort of says it all.

Whichever way you look at it, Align will win hands down when you are comparing spares prices!!

To be honest, i don't care much for Align stuff! it's cheap and mass produced but it's what the massess want so you can't argue with it! Personally i would rather pay that little bit more for a higher quality machine that flies straight and precise, where the parts are of a higher quality and the support is there rather than Align just saying tough titty!!.. Heres a new upgrade!!

There is also a bit of pride and exclusivity with owning and flying something thats not an Align, granted you can't get parts at every high street shop corner like you can with Align but i find it nice to not go to the field or a fly-in and see nothing but a sea of Align's everywhere with the Tinny Rasp of a TRex600 or a vibrating hum of a 700!!
            Happy Flying! Thanks - Dave

aligns fly well, and if it's flybarless could you really tell the difference in the air? why would you want something you can't get spares for. Aligns are easier to sell on too I would imagine.

Surely the money you'd lose selling the N5 second hand and then buying and speccing up a 700 would be more than a crash? Or are you just wanting to do a direct swap?

Hey guys just got home from work. didn't think there would be any replies.

The synergy is a fantastic piece of kit and i do love the way it flies, i only use fast lads and they stock all the parts so thats not an issue. The cost is a major issue given the fear factor when flying it and its that problem which is preventing me from feeling relaxed and wanting to learn with it(plus the headache from the misses with a mishap). With the align stuff yeah its cheap its cheerfull but it does Exactly what i want parts are cheap everyone at the field has one and has spares which we all share if the need arrises.
Yeah the fuel cost is slightly increased but thats not my issue.

I flew craig lorkin's 700 and loved the feel and power and presence of it. Thats why i want one.

I was hoping to do a straight swap as long as both parties are happy with condition and spec. (would prefer hardly used but beggars can't be choosers).

                    Thanks
