The dreaded locking auto hub

twice today i've had to free the auto hub. Also managed to lose a tooth on the main gear, which i'm wondering if was down to one of these lockups - i was autoing at the time . Still wasn't going to let a missing tooth put an end to my evening's flying and proceeded to have 7 more flights.

Know it's a pain but get the new autohub if you can, its flawless.

Since cleaning and polishing the sleeve on the original hub I didn't have any further locking up issues, the original hub does benefit from checking and polishing of the sleeve to make sure it's around 11.98mm and also cleaning out the grease and oiling with lit oil likeTri-Flow.

I have since replaced the hub with the new auto hub to test the performance and it has been working flawlessly!

Check the sleeve and if it has grooves on it from the lock ups then they will cause it to lock up again so it is best to polish them out with wet and dry. If you need any help with this just give me a shout.

Appreciate the replies. I had to replace the main gear so did take the opportunity to take a look at the auto hub sleeve:-

- cleaned the one way, and used some tri-flow
- wet and dried the sleeve - there was what seemed to be a very thin layer of dried grud on it, so have removed it.

I certainly free wheels alot better now.

I fully appreciate what Rossco is saying, as I did that at first with the original hub and sleeve - however after running well for a while, it would eventually need to be done again.

Personally this was the time I changed to the new hub, and what a difference no more messing about period.

My new auto hub locked the other week, so not all roses!! I'm learning to ignore it now!
