  • N5 clutch shoes

    Hi

I notice that the clutch shoes on the N5 are reversed in that the pointed bit leads the sprung bit -
opposite way round to my 600 and raptor. Is this normal? I've just ordered my third clutch
for this model and wondered if this was my problem, but then i guess eveyone else is not having a problem.

The instruction show it this way round but I would guess that the clutch take up would be too sharp.

    Cheers

I had a clutch fail very early on, but it's been great ever since, and has done about 80 flights on the replacement. I've not heard of any issues tbh.

Don't worry, that is the correct way
How come you're on your third clutch? What problem are you having?

Everytime I turn the engine over the clutch grabs and locks on. If I free it up, it locks up again as soon as I turn it over. Even though I use a cheap irvine starter on 12V I've chewed up two start shafts and the one way bearings in the clutch.

Just ordered a clutch, bell and start shaft and I'll try again.

Jst to note. No issues here - clutch seems to be fine. It does grab more on idle with the first flight but fine after that I think.

Did you guys glue the clutch liner in? Or did you have factory installed liner - mine was factory and seems fine, wondered if you put too much glue behind the liner.

Are you simply running the idle too fast through a mixture issue?

I had to glue mine, and then had to remove a small amount of liner material with a dremmel to get a nice fit. It bedded in nicely within the first 2 or 3 flights
