  • N5 FBL head received :D.

Got my FBL today, ordered from Elite Models at a smashing price.
    Anyway here’s some small points;

°The finish is first class, a polished look on the grips near the actual head and an almost brushed effect everywhere else.

° Thankfully it has no head button. I usually take them off to save broken pitch links but this leaves an unsightly hole in the head unit.

°I will need to use washers (spacers) in the blade grips as it will be impossible to get any tension without them, not a big issue but can be fiddly when trying to put the blades back on.

°For any one considering getting a fbl head here are some little things to bear in mind, I don't have any knowledge of other fbl heads so I coudn't say what you do and don't get with the setup. I was condering selling my old fb head to fund this but thankfully I didn't as the new head requires a few things from the old one namely; The blade grip bolts and the longest two link's from the normal head

On the whole I’m very pleased and excited about getting this on the heli. Despite the points above, which isn't by no means negativity from me at all; I think it’s a super head. Quite basic with minimal detail but super smooth and just how I like it.

Here are a few snap shots. Just for those who would like to see it set up on the heli, I'll take some snaps later

Looks awesome I'm pretty sure you'll find a thrust bearing behind the outer radial. For washers I used a set of 90 size radix washers.

I wasn't 100% Jame I didn't really want to take the grips apart just yet . Thanks for clearing that up.
The heli came with washers, I couldn't say if there original Synergys but either way they do the job.

Need to wait for the BeastX to get stocked at Elites as well. so won't be until the weekend after this I assume, weather permitting as usual.

I have that saved that page in my favs thanks Dave , will give it a read through.
In truth I haven't compared his tips and tricks to whats on the heli eg the locking washer yet. Ive been meaning to do it.

I'll do a bit of a review. Im not the best at explaining in small terms and tend to wobble on abit lol .

I think theres images on the web of the fbl n5 but i'll get hold of a decent camera (non iPhone4) and get some snappys regardless, as the crap picture doesn't do it any justice.

I got mine in the boxing day FL sale. Typical Synergy machining, very nice.

Only thing I'm not sure on is that the balls on the blade grips are not dead centre with the head block, so there is a small amount of delta angle in it. I wonder if that is designed in, or just not as close a tolerance as it could be.

Looks nice, but shouldn't the grips be the other way round? i.e. leading edge link?
It's a shame the swash driver wasn't built into the head block too.

                            That's correct mate.
I need to take the links of anyway as none of it has been thread locked etc. The links haven't been set yet either.
I'll leave it in until I receive the beastx.
I was a little to excited yesterday and just wanted to get it on if you see what I mean .
There's also a little mark on the blade grip so for the picture I turnt it over, bit gutted about it but never mind.

The day finally came. This weekend has been a super long one, waiting for my two parcels and thankfully they where waiting at the front door for when I came home.

The first one is the BeastX from elitemodels. Ive taken a few pictures, as you do like . Nothing different from anyone else's box but anyway:

The second one was from FL with a few bits and bobs in as well as one small gripe, I ordered a 3500mAh RX batt and only received a 2500mAh. Ive still been charged the full amount by the looks of it but I don't really want to go through the hassle of sending it back etc as ideally I'd like it for this Sunday. I've put quite a few orders through to FL and never had an issue so I don't mind the odd one . Any thought's, to be honest I'm more of a live with it person and just get on with things.

Anyway I'll get on with reading the BeastX manual and will post back if I have to with any issues and updates.

                              A question on servo frequency.
I have the Futaba S9351 servos so which option is best:
                              120Hz
                              165Hz
                              200Hz

I've read through that servo chart Waveydavey posted but mine arn't on there, any advice.
