At Charmouth at the weekend, Roger Hamilton from Climb-Out turned up with a nice surprise. He opened the back of his car and showed us his N5, complete with the official Synergy flybarless head, and BeastX controller. It hadn't even been test flown yet, so Roger finished the setup and had a very brief test hover on the Saturday evening.
Sunday morning came, and off we went for its first "proper" flight. I was very apprehensive, being somewhat "against" FBL, but I was genuinely shocked and surprised how well it flew. Very very natural feeling, no odd shakes or nods, just a little slow on the cyclics. One tank down and Danny Lock helped us tune the cyclic speed a little, and also increased the tail stop gains (i think! - pot 3 was tuend up i think). Danny took it for a quick flight, then handed it over again, and the feel was much better. Faster cyclics, but still very locked in. The only down point was the engine. A KME 60 which just wasn't performing like we hoped, but none the less, the machine was awesome. Can't wait for the call from Roger to say mine is in
