  • Gyro mounting

    Guys,

Can someone give me some advice on mounting the Solid G on the N5 for good performance - if mounted above the servos, do you use a single layer of foam (as standard method for this gyro) or double with plate because of possible vibes etc...

The difference between your two suggested mounting systems will probably be quite small, so why not try them both an then give us feedback here?

Bottom line is, both will work.

Guess your right, was hoping some kind soul had already mounted a Solid G on the N5 and could share there knowledge - sure I read somewhere that two foam and one plate actually caused a wag, where as one foam was better??

        Hi David,

Although i've not mounted a SolidG on my N5 i have had it mounted on my N9 and Aurora. I have found that with the SolidG, the Original Futaba gyro pads work great. The original 3M pads were a little too rigid for some installations althought they do work good, the Futaba ones did seem to work much better IMO.

On my machines where i have used the SolidG i have used just a single Futaba gyro pad, using two even with a metal plate can make it too soft.

I would probably use just a single Futaba gyro pad to mount the SolidG up front on the N5 and use a strap around it for safety, just wrapped round so that its snug but not tight.

If you don't have any Futaba ones then what you can do is stick two of the original SolidG pads together to make a thicker pad, this is what we used to do with them to give a little more cushion to the gyro.
        Thanks!
