  • looking to get a n5

Hi guys, i am looking at getting a n5, but have seen a few threads issuing a problem with the collar on the main shaft?

Just wondering if this problem has been resolved in the recent kits produced? and also does the n9 have the same problem as one of them could also be a contender :P

    Thanks
    Thomas

Apparently there is a fix for this . I don't think that everyone has had this issue.

There are quite a few folks on here with the N5 i'm sure they will chime in.

Contact Climb out, who are the UK distributor. They should be able to put your mind at rest

The best fix so far is a steel Knight 3D collar. You can crank that up a lot more. Never heard of it being an issue on the N9.

          Hi,

I have both the N9 and N5, and they are both awesome!

I have never had any issues with the N9, but during the build i did upgrade some items like the blade grips, collar, fan hub and Torque Tube to the HyperDrive system as it is alot easier to assemble. i've also modifed the flybar system to a 4mm flybar using the Hyperbar upgrade but you can do the same modification with 5mm to 4mm blade bushings by simply drilling holes in the bushes for the grub screws to pass through. The newer N9 kits come with metal blade grips so if the kit requires anything i would recommend the Hyper or SE upgrades and go for the Fan Hub as this practically eliminates any fan run-out. Also the Hyper Collar, this is a nice upagrade and simply aids the building and maintenance as the standard locking collar uses grub screws and they dig into the mainshaft and as the collar sits on the underside of the upper bearing block, the marks left on the mainshaft by the standard collar can make in difficult to remove the mainshaft.

Never had an issue with my N9!, it is simply bullitproof! Smooth and Precise!

My N5 was a really nice build with zero issues, the mainshaft collar in my kit was unafected by the issue experienced by a couple of others and is machined correctly and so it looks like it is just a few kits that have been affected with the faulty collar.
So far i am very impressed with the quality of the N5, in design and kit quality. The N5 also flies extremely well with a very unique feel to it, it is very smooth and precise but very agile with the head setup as per Matt Boto's recommendations.

Hope this helps, and if you have anymore questions just let me know i'll be happy to answer any question you have.
          Thanks!
