Thanks for the heads up - I will check mine tonight!
Luckily a simple fix, but ashame it had to slip in Pauls heli. Hopefully Synergy will will pull out the stops and help paul back on his way.

It's more than just a few that slipped through. I've ordered a few of the bits I needed to repair and got a new collar too.

I've just checked the new collar I got today and it is also tapped both sides!! Damn, if I had rebuilt with this new collar and flown it again for it to happen again ..................... :-O

My question has to be ..

If Synergy knew this had happened then did they publicise that? If not why not? Quite apart from decking a few costly helis there has to have been an increased human hazard from debris.

Just run a 2.5 bit thru the front side, so it's only tapped at the rear of the collar.

Hopefully it should provide a tighter grip and prevent it moving?

Just checked mine. Yep it's tapped both sides aswell.

I ran a drill down one side and cleaned out the thread. Didn't have a problem with my main shaft slipping however it could have done!!

Good heads up Paul. Everyone has to check theirs !!!!!!!
              Cheers Matt

                Guys,

The factory assured both Roger and I that all collars were okay. Beyond flying to China every time we found something that wasn't right, we did all that we could do to prevent the issue. I am sure the factory will have no problem fixing Paul's helicopter as it was a factory defect. Please make contact with Climb-Out so they can get the factory to replace the parts.

Please appreciate that fact that we are being honest about the issue and I was the one that told you to check your split collar. I could have easily taken the route of other manufacturers and just not said anything. Instead I informed you of the few pre production collars being tapped on both sides. I will continue to be honest with the public as I feel its the right thing to do.

                Thanks,

                Matt

I like it when the people that design/ mfr the helis come on here and be honest with the general public Matt as it gives us more confidence about buying certain models .. Like you said some dont and some also like the general public to be the beta testers and then buy all the upgrades the heli should have had in the first place ... Not naming n e names tho ... I had a look at the N5 the other week and a lovely piece of engineering, so clean and well thought of .. Just need to have a go of one now hehe ....

Has this issue been posted on all other forums too to let people know??

Imagine if Align had did this that would be a full time job for someone

                      Matt,

I quite agree, there is only so much you and roger can do. And I think I speak for everyone here that we appreciate the open and honest approach you and the team are taking with the release of the N5. Long may it continue.

                      Cheers

                      Paul

I'm up for a new machine in the Autumn and the N5 following this thread had dropped down the list, not now. Well done Matt for sorting Pauls machine, refreshing attitude.

Thanks guys! Being a heli pilot myself I've been through the pain with manufacturers who don't support their products. I'd like to set a new standard with support and quality.

                          Cheers!

I also want to add that following my tail issue I had 10 ten days ago, I emailed Matt via his web site purely to make him aware of the issue. He responded within minutes and we traded emails for the rest of the evening on possible causes and solutions.

To me it was obvious from that experience that Matt is a competent engineer who is fully prepared to stand behind his design and to actively work with Joe Public to get things put right. Good on you Matt

p.s your flying ain't bad either
