  • Header tank?

    How did you fit yours?

I've got a QUK tank and stand offs but I can't see a neat no bodge way of making it all fit!

Only place I can see to fit it is by using a stand off and one of the upper engine mount holes. Problems I see with this method are direct vibration from the engine to the tank and I will have to bodge(dremmel) the stand off to clear the engine mount Don't really want to drill a new hole in the frame either for obvious reasons.

Otherwise it will be a Fuel Magnet as per post in Wanted but I'd rather use a header...

I've stuck mine to the main tank with sticky pads. I'll keep a close eye on it, but if that fails I'll try sticking it with sillicone. Unless someone else has a better solution?

Used to fly my heli's with a header tank, now use a fuel magnet. I used to attach using strong double sided tape against the main tank. If you get the right tape it aint coming off unless you get a sharpe blade and slice between the tape.

Saves having to remove bolts etc from the main frame.

I have seen others use the align hook and look and again it wasn't going anywhere fast

I've got a home made standoff on mine on the upper engine mount bolt, but tbh it looks crap, so I've just got a fuel magnet to go in tonight....

+1 for the sticky pads, a few of using that method with no probs though we also seal with silicon around the edges to stop any oil/fuel getting to the pads.

                      Neat, quick and it works

The only downside with the fuel magent i can see is you have to keep an eye on it for when it starts to break up. Mine started after about 6 months on the 700's Not a real problem if the its easily accesable, can be a pain in the butt if like on the 700 you put it on the inner of the two holes in the tank. Not sure what the N9 is like in this regards.

As an aside the fuel magnet I have is brand new and still in packet but it goes back to when I 1st had my Knight 3D. Wasn't there a problem with the foam back then? Is the centre bit still the same so I can just get some new foam?

The foam will degrade when it comes into contact with exhaust fumes. Just make sure you fill your tank up and cover the magnet when your tank is empty.

If i was you Phil, just get some new foams. About £11 for 3 if i recall, and available from most retailers. Should fit straight onto your existing centre bit
