      Hey Stuart,

Paddle testing is going well! I've tried the following....

Mikado 16 gram - very nimble cyclic still tracks well
TT Blue 20 gram - tracks very well but a little slower on cyclic
Trex600 20 gram - slow on cyclic, okay tracking
JR 50 paddles (very old red paddle) - slow on cyclic, very good tracking
Trex700 25 gram - testing when I get back from Chile
CY Stubz - testing when I get back from Chile

      Flybar lengths tested - 400mm, 420mm, 450mm
So far the 450mm is the winner, however depending on the paddle airfoil that can change. I am probably going to stay with the 450mm because if someone wants to shorten the flybar because their favorite paddle may work better then its easily achieved. For example, I like running the CY Stubs on the N9 with a 520mm flybar over the standard length flybar.

      Sincerely,

      Matt

The thing for me is that when you look for example at the .90 market years ago its either Raptor or Mini Air, Robbe, JR, Henseleit. Nothing really outstanding sat in the middle till the N9 came along. At this time Align was big on the 450, 600 electric the .50 Nitro market was very much the same setup nothing stood in the middle.

Align just grabbed the bull by the horns and went for it, can't blame them its business and the rest just didn't see it coming. By the time Align got its teeth in with the nitro .50 it was too late.

So Align brought out the 700 but as usual it sits at the lower end in terms of price, spares etc. Thus driving pricing down in the market, good for a volume producer to achieve and let's not forget Align's RC content in its sales are mixed in with its traditional business - so it has a distinct advantage over all in its business model.

The downside is that once your filled all the orders to saturation point, you need to keep coming up with newer variants to get those who bought model v1 to get model v2, or even create a whole new market .250.

I'm not dissing Align at the end of the day if fits your needs then fine - I fly one myself an NSP - but I miss the feel of the Synergy and this is what even from watching Matt's vid to me just reminds me of the N9 - on rails, point and go and bullet proof.
        Cheers
        Stuart

              Hey HiroboFreak,

I designed the skids this way due to the fragile design of the N9 skids. We went through some heart burn in the beginning with the N9 skids and I wasn't willing to take that sort of abuse a second time around. I've since improved the N9 skids to be more durable but they are still not perfect. I am with you on the looks of the N9 skids but the angle is too drastic and not very functional on hard landings.
You also have to consider the average pilot flying a 50 class heli doesn't always land perfectly, if the skids are breaking all the time they will get frustrated and move to a different model. The N5 skids are not going to break (unless of course you force her into mother earth by accident)

              Sincerely,

              Matt

              They're too Align-ish & we certainly don't want that.

Some mini N9 skids will give the N5 the tough Synergy "stance" that we love about it's big brother.

lol or in my case getting over confident listening to Foo Fighters while flying.....

                    OK Matt point taken.

How about an N9 style skid set as an optional part/upgrade?

I haven't tried it yet but it should be very easy to mount the N9 skids on the N5.... not sure how it will look but it shouldnt be too bad.

No, just a standard Hyper 50..... I can't even imagine more power in this helicopter.... its going to be crazy fast in forward flight!

What headspeed were you running off - that forward speed was going some for a .50
                            Cheers

I was running 2050 on the head. I've tried four different pipes so far....
CY MP5 - not enough time on it to tell
CY MP5 SB - great performance, sound, likes a wide range of head speed
Funtech - great performance, best sound, only likes a specific head speed
Hatori - havent tried it yet
Align - best performance, worst sound, refuse to run it because I can't stand the sound

I'd love to see a vid with a load of tic tocs to show the loading on the head and it's recovery after

Sweet flight mate - I like that style

                                Cheers,
