  • First test of a vbar on the N5 today

Got to at last try my new silverline on the N5 today. Had a bit of an issue with the YS56 so dropped back the old faithful OS50 and what fun!

This is the first time i've really been able to compare FB and FBL directly on the same model and i am truly converted now.

happy as a pig in do-do

i have always been nitro and FB and i was really stuck in my ways and also i felt that buying a heli and then having to spend a lot lot more on a FBL system was just a bit to much yet this time i decided to try it out and seeing as vbar was around when i started flying it was the only choice for me and i have to say it also really took me back at how well and stable you can get a heli by using a FBL system its quite clever how it reduces the parts needed in the head and in a way by passes the bell hillier mechanical setup, would i buy a FB heli again i dont think so

bizarely i have a vbar on my other main machine, but that was from day 1 so knew no better really. For me, the difference was only surprising when using on something i knew well, and was pretty sure that was setup well.

I had one of those moments when I went from flybarred 600 (read flys like a bowl of custard) to a BeastX on the same machine, night and day. Something else that many will not have experienced was my conversion from 35meg to 2.4 on the same machine. Incredible difference, imagine a fbl machine with 50% expo and how lazy the heli feels then going to 0 expo. Thats what it felt like

I've just finished my N5 fbl with a YS60, love it and loads of power even though the engine is as rich as feck! Can't compare it in its fb version but is so stable, can't wait till later in the week to have another fly. This engine loves the fuel though, good job I've fitted a header tank! Got to run in my YS56 too after a major overhaul in my velo 50. Pleased its not just me that still loves a drop of nitro!
