  • Synergy E5 Power options

I think I've decided to ditch nitro and switch to leccy power! Having had an N5 which has served me impeccably without fault for over two years, I'm going to stick with what I know and get the E5 when its released, build it, but buy the components throughout the year, as I'm away in the Falklands for 4 months from the beginning of march.

What's confusing me is the options to power it! With nitro it was a fairly simple choice, OS55, with the leccy stuff there are so many different esc/motor/battery options, all with some confusing numbering system to identify stuff! LV/HV, Kv etc etc

What would be an ideal setup for this heli? Both top of the range gear and middle of the road stuff? I don't do 3D, just sport flying so a hugely powerful motor is not really important!

    Your musings would be appreciated!

Can vouch for that. I'm no 3Der but it has bags of power and doesn't get hot.

First off are you going to run it on 6S or 12S. A lot of your decisions will come down to your budget.

Ok your best pff deciding which to go for otherwise you will be wanting to change your ESC and motor. Going from 6S to 12S you will need to half your motor Kv and switch to a HV ESC.

Are you doubling price going 12s, I assume you are in batteries? LV for 6s then?

Battery price will be more but won't necessarily double as you will use smaller packs in 12S set up. The LV ESCs are a bit cheaper yeah but again it's not double, the lower voltage means you will be drawing more current to get the equivalent power. You also have to consider your charger set up too.

So for a decent 6s set-up what would I be looking for? Motor and ESC?
