  • Goblin 380 motor

Looking for a bit of advice on which motor is best. I'm thinking of getting either the scorpion 2820 or the nova motor (not the tareq version) but non of the specs really mean anything to me would it be worth saving myself the tenner and just going with the scorpion? Any advice appreciated, I'm far from a 3d flyer just attempted circuits with a regular crash thrown into the mix ha

I went through the same thought process. I was going to get the Scorpion as it has a very low current draw, and I've always used Scorpion motors in everything. But at the last minute I decided to get the XNova motor instead and I have to say I'm glad I did. The build quality is just fantastic, so much better than any Scorpion motor Ive had. It runs really cool too.

I'd buy the Xnova if it was my money. Mind you, I'd probably get the Tareq one.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

Xnova 2820, build quality is superb, runs cool, looks fab and comes in red & black. I run hs of 2800-3100 with mine with stock pinion, very pleased with it, Ian.

Ive got both Xnovas here for the 380. The Tareq is a bloody weapon, but tbf the smaller one has more than enough power for most people. PLUS the smaller one will get a couple of minutes longer than the Tareq flight time. I run 2700 lipos in mine cos I feel the heli needs the weight to make it fly proper and I get just shy of 6 mins a flight on the tareq, Id probably get 10 with the smaller one
Some say my left nipple is the shape of a Raptor canopy.......... And that for fun I chase sheep in wellies 3 sizes too big. All I know is I am 3D Clod

I'll take the advice and go with the xnova then, I was leaning towards that anyway. I think the tareq would be far to overkill for what I need

I run the Xnova motor - very good quality, running with a Kontronik JIVE 80LV I still get flight times of over 6 mins with a 1800 battery and headspeed of 2950, think they are both very efficient..!!

I'm getting an easy 5 minutes with the xnova and a HW 50a ESC, and that's with 1600mah lipos. But I could go a bit longer but need to work out usage a bit after a few more flights.

I'd use the hobbywing 50A all day.

I know SAB recommend higher current ESCs, but they're also expecting you to run down right MENTAL rpms on the head (3800+). 3K is plenty for hard 3D, and 3200 should be borderline crazy. Both will run all day on the hobbywing 50A v3.

I'm using MKS DS95's and a DS8910 on the tail. The hobby wing is working great with the Nova and at 2740rpm after 5mins the motor is coming down only barely warm.

I've got a castle talon 90, savox 0255mg on cyclic and savox 1257 on the tail, xnova motor no and a mini v bar for fbl. The talon is probably overkill but I had it and may as well use it. Just need fast lad to hurry up and ship the green 380 I'm itching to get my hands o. It now I've got all the electronics
