Goblin 570 - Xnova 4025-1120KV - Gearing

When I set up my Goblin initially I was going to use Scorpion HKIII-4025-1100KV and a 23t pinion gear as per the goblin manual.

What pinion gear should I be using for the Xnova? Does it matter that much?

I have had 6 flights on it so far and the motor, battery & ESC did get considerably hotter than my Trex 550 equivalents. Is this normal?

I've just done some more flights on my xnova and it was coming down warm even after a back to back flight. The gearing shouldn't be any different , what esc are you using ?

[h=4]ESC Settings[/h][COLOR=#000000][FONT=Helvetica Neue][B]Xnova motors are not picky about ESC settings. Most default settings are just fine, but there are some things to consider.[/B][/FONT][/COLOR][h=4]PWM Frequency:[/h][COLOR=#000000][FONT=Helvetica Neue][B]Any setting on an ESC designated "outrunner" should not be used. Specifically, Castle Creations has added "outrunner PWM" mode. This setting may cause higher running temps on Xnova motors and SHOULD NOT be used. The default 12khz setting is recommended. Using higher PWM frequencies will result in a cooler motor and warmer ESC. So if your ESC is undersized slightly, use a lower PWM frequency to lower ESC temperatures. If the ESC is oversized relative to the motor, then a higher PWM frequency will decrease motor temperatures slightly.[/B][/FONT][/COLOR][h=4][B]Timing:[/B][/h][COLOR=#000000][FONT=Helvetica Neue][B]Normal or low timing is ok for the Xnova motor on Castle Creation. Yeah i have got it setup as per the specs. I have tried a couple of different head speeds as well but it still runds very hot.

mines on a hobbywing 100a v3
timing 15deg
pwm 32khz
running gov store @ 70%-75% & 80% know idea of speed but the gov is much better then the castle ive used.

I have played around with the head speeds and everything seems to work better / cooler at the higher headspeeds its currently on / around 2350.
It flys soooooo nice.
