  • Who's flying Robbe helis?

Whilst looking through the categories here I noticed the Robbe forum has not had any posts in a while.

So I'm curious who is flying Robbe helis and which model?

(I know one person with a Futura SuperSport or two and someone with a Millenium, 'didn't realise til today that Stuart once had a Cuatro setup for arial photography).

I had a Millie II until the tail end of last year. Got rid of it for a T-rex 700....

You cant compare the build quality between the two. The Robbe was far far better... something to do with being german make I think.

I had 3 Milly v2s a few years back. All great engineering and bullet-proof build quality. I'm building an Xcel 90 at the moment and the machining is as good, if not better than the Robbes in my opinion.

Hi Trillion, been flying the millie this week, after a total rebuild, engines got new bearings, carbon frames and some new main bearings, its a real pleasure to fly, and own the thing, love it.

Yeah it depends on the kind of flying you do and stuff. I don't know what the 700 weighs but I suspect the Futuras I have are a bit heavier as they are built like tanks.

I have a Futura SE that I got in December and it came with these purple paddles (they are either K & S or KBDD but they don't have any name on them) and if you mount those in the middle hole and remove the flybar weights it's amazing how quick the cyclics are. I had to tone it down a lot to suit the feel I was looking for. I'm quite happy with the way the Futuras fly in general and I suspect the Milli would be very similar as it shares the system 88 rotorhead. But I like the drivetrain of the Futura. I'd kinda like to get a Nova or Cuatro at some point as they kept the belt drive (I think) but reversed the engine and put the fuel tank in back like the Milli.

I'm glad to hear that. My fav heli at the moment is a carbon frame Futura SE with OS70 engine. It's extremely smooth and precise and sounds great. It's not a rocket with this engine but it's fine for the flying I'm doing at the moment. I want to set it up in an F3C style and I think there's still some fine tuning to be done with the paddles / weights and TX setup, maybe the right amount of expo etc. but it's pretty good now.

i like you want a nova
                    half milly half se
i started with a super sport and moved on to a SE that thing flew on rails till i smacked it never flew the same again ? couldnt afford a nova at the time so i
then bought a second hand Milly after watching Bob Johnson fly what a pilot
then spent the last 10 years trying to fly like him? so smooth!!! but the Milly lets you fly smooth my Trex 700 is a lot lighter and faster and i dont really trust it
but at the end of the day i am better suited to the milly i think a bit dosile like me ha ha

Had a Millie 2, Futura SE and 2 x Dyna-X's All gone now. I know off 3 up here but only one is ready to fly needing Radio/Motor.

If your wanting to liven the cyclics/Pitch but retain the heavier paddles you can swap the upper mixers for Millie 3 ones. Fitting a very Hi speed/Torque Pitch servo makes a big difference in how they fly. I do miss them.

The deciding factor why I moved on to the 700 was the Crown gear on the Robbe's stripped easily + general repair costs where fairly high.

I have stubbs paddles, and using the outer hole in the hillier, and it still pretty agile, if I use the inner hole of the hillier its as agile as the 600, also its a lot lighter with the carbon frames, than before.

I have a Super Sport that I got cheap on Ebay and my thinking was partly that it might be useful for spares but all the rest of my Futuras are SEs. I should probably get the SS flying and then sell it because since I got it I have accumulated more SE spares.

'Speaking of Bob Johnston and the Futura, there is a pic of Paul Heckles with a Futura in the latest BMFA mag from an F3C competition and Bob Johnston is mentioned as well. It doesn't say what year I'd guess early 1990's or something.

Well I tried a few different combinations as well as some really big and heavy paddles I got from somewhere. I think perhaps a slightly rounder shaped paddle might be better. I have a few different ones I can still try but it's really not too far off with the KBDD lookalikes on it now.

I have just been looking at pics of the Futuras and the Milli's and it look like the cyclic servos rock to give you pitch. I can see the the front cyclic servo has a bar from the middle to the pitch servo, but how is the rear rocking servo connected to the pitch?

Don't suppose someone would be kind enough to post some more detailed pics.
