  • Is anyone other than me still flying these....

The RJX forum always appears devoid of life. Does that mean there's loads of very happy RJX pilots because there are no issues and the heli is great. Or I am alone out here.
Ive done lots of soul searching and I think im going to give up on the beast and sell up and jump ship to another manufacturer.
Unless someone can convince me otherwise.
It will mean I have lots and I mean lots of spares and airframe parts to sell (mr moderator I promise I will do a proper for sale listing)
So, thoughts anybody..... or am I truly the only RJX pilot still flying? Or crashing or wobbling about the skies....
I have two tools in my tool box. A hammer...... and a condom. If that doesn't work then it's TJFGOP.... The Jobs Fd Going On The P:::::::

No, your not on your own !

Own a number of RJX machines, and having built and flown the majority of the 50 size Helis over the last 15 years, the X-Treme 50 is still my favourite. Don't fly them as much as I use to, as most of my flying these days is with electric for convenience.

My Extreme 50 nitro that I built last year gets flown the most at the moment with no issues.

I don't see the problem over whether there are others flying your brand of model or not. the real questions are: Can you the models outfly your capabilities and can you get spares. the rest is just fashion nonsense. I've got the rjx fbl heads on my 500 and 600 and they're nice and shiney and work fine - nowt wrong with the quality of manufacture although the 500's grip arms don't like crashing so much.

I'm only likely to invest in new models when I can either fly better than the current stuff (never - sigh) or when i can't get/make bits to fix them or nitro prices skyrocket..

I have an Xtreme 50 that I am intending to outfit with electrics and get it flying. I put a KME .60 engine in it and then I have been concerned about the strength of the main gear as it is quite thin (although, it is a slant tooth so maybe it's sturdy enough).

It's certainly a very well made and nice looking airframe and a big ish 50 size which I thought would be perfect for the KME engine so long as the main gear is up to the job.

Im pretty sure I can fly it, been on the case of heli flying for 20 years. I have billions of bits. I think its a combination of being "bored of the same old same old" if im honest and plus the fact that to get any bits I dont have, its not just a case popping in to a local model shop. Although Quick uk, TT, and align have all been utilised along the way. So maybe im succumbing to the fashion nonsense and want shiny bling.
As for who else is flying one, its not a problem, its a question. I want to know who is, are they Local. What results have they had from different set up options. Have they found another supply of parts etc....... quality, well sadly I have had a few issues here and there.

..then it's a simple case of budget. You can't beat align for availability and economical flying or you go fancy for the sake of fancy bling. For sure there's the new kit building feeling..but then there's also the 'Darn I crashed my new build' feeling...

I saw the extreme when I first got into helis and I read Richards reviews in MHW or RW can't remember exactly which one and I promised when I got out of the hover I would have one, never got round to it unfortunately. Nice looking machine

I have a X-xtreme 50 & loved flying it & would continue but just disappointed with getting spares & support in the UK. Would love to give it another go

That's my only concern but I really haven't looked into the spares situation. Mine is in pristine condition and looks the biz! I suppose I would let it go if I knew it was going to a loving home

Perhaps all I need to do to keep with the mistress I know so well is get her a new frock. .....bugger, ive gone all watery eyed.
Translation: if anything lets an Xtreme down its the standard two tone canopy. They looked poo when new and now compared to every other brands mega paint job offerings they look worse. Especially mine. Getting on for 5 years old with plenty of use.
And thats where the fundamental disappointment begins, can you find a nice blingy canopy for this bird? Nope. Standard yellow or orange, or the worst flame design in the world. So its either a custom job or bodge someone elses on.

Rossmod still have plenty of spares available (most of the Xtreme 50 nitro ones are under Hurricane! ).

Indeed...love new kit building feeling, and yes, the first time you turn into a rotorvator and it eats a lump of infield grass it is no longer new. But then - reaches for the wooden stirring spoon - if the heli pilot in us worried too much about that would be flying foam planks. Ooops - did I knock planks?
Which brings back the memory of lunching one sucj heli many years ago to such a state of destruction that no part except th os50 was re usable. Not even the the frame bolts as the were all bent........ my statement at the time was "bugger, I bet that wont T cut out"

I quite like the look of mine. These should be good colours for visibility as well.
