  • Xtreme 50 conversion to 800e or 90 nitro

I may well be posting to myself here and im probably going to end up answering my own question through trial and error, but here goes anyway:
Ive been flying 50 nitros and 50e for a few years now. I have never bumped in to another RJX pilot and hear very little about them and im seriously considering ditching the brand as I want something new. But before I do, and as I have enough spares to put three 50 nitros together, is it possible to change some parts and make a 90 size or even an 800e? I have four complete heads and would like to use at least the head and side frames.
Any thoughts before I start ordering parts? Or selling up and bailing out to another brand.

I have an Xtreme 50 nitro airframe and just haven't got round to outfitting it with electrics. It's a very very nice heli, the design and finish is excellent and it looks really classy.

It is on the large side for a 50, so it could be stretched a bit and not look wrong but I think the drivetrain would need to be beefed up if you wanted to run bigger blades. Mine has the slant gears but the maingear is quite thin. I have a KME .60 engine in it now, which just bolts straight in with no mods but the maingear has me a bit concerned and I have been meaning to ask around to see what the thoughts are on it being strong enough.

I definitely wouldn't imagine stretching it beyond 700 size and more realistically probably 630 ish. It would just be a matter of getting the maingear and one-way sturdy enough to handle the extra torque.

Well it looks like being 90 nitro. Probably a cheap TT90 on 700 blades and the 90 boom. From what I can see most of the parts should just shovel straight in. Ill let you know how I get on
