  • Rave ENV torque tube failure in flight

Just a word of warning to anyone flying Rave ENVs. Yesterday at the field I had the torque tube snap just after the bolt hole on the front drive splines. The result was a pretty spectacular piroing fall from the sky, and as I wasn't high enough I couldn't recover by hitting throttle hold

I was slightly lucky in that the ground was soft so absorbed a lot of the impact and the frames don't appear to be damaged, overall the heli is in a bit of a sorry state.

As of now a torque tube check has been added to my frequent checklist as it only takes 5 mins to get the boom off.

Wow ! Not fun !!! Thanks for the heads up I tend to load my tail a lot, backwards flight , tail slides and puros , so I will check.
How many flights on the rave ?
    Thanks Rachel

I've started doing stuff that puts more stress on the tail which I suspect hasn't helped matters, especially when you add my ham fisted control inputs

I'm not sure how many flights it's had but it's going to be a reasonable amount around 150 I guess as the Rave is the heli that always goes to the field.
