  • Canopy Cracking From Rigid Stand Offs

On my ENV after a few flights I have found the canopy stand offs which steady the canopy cause unsightly cracks on the screen on the outside of the canopy.

I am not the only one as someone else in the club has the same problem with his ENV.

I suggest you guys and girls remove your stands offs. Pull one of the ali sleeves out of the rubber stand offs and use a shorter bolt to bolt back to the front frame. This will loeave you with a flexible bit of rubber on your stand off which should hopefully stop your canopy from cracking.

Thanks for the "heads up" on this one, unfortunatly for me my canopy cracked too and I found that reinforcing it with epoxy glue on the inside where the stand offs touch helped.

Still its very annoying when you spend time painting your canopy as I do ,so I will try your tip.

    Thanks for sharing

hi if u would like to have a carbon fiber canopy for any heli just contact me i'm laminating plane weave and 2/2 twill carbon fiber and reinforce with 220g plane kevlar on inside it's light and strongest u can get i'm not doing it for living so no crazy prices
coz de-moulding carbon is very hard single mould is useless after what insures no one will have same canopy check my first i made for my blade 400 with some mods
i've made another for hurricane 550 and will post photos after it'll fully cure(carbon 24h,kevlar 48h)

I have seen this being fixed by using toilet roll & superglue to reinforce the holes for mounting the canopy. Works a treat

I do it to all mine after seeing a post by Paul (Raptorheli2). Just smear some £1 superglue on the canopy, place an inch square of kitchen roll ontop of it, smear some more superglue on it, and press it down with your thumb (put a plastic bag over your hand)

Do a couple of layers, job done.

That's the very man that told me what to do . Having seen it at the club a long time ago now, most people in our club do it as part of the build now!
