  • Swashplate Ball Play

    How are everyones swashplates?

Mine has developed play in the ball. When you grab the swash and pull/push you can see the swash moving on the ball.

    Only a gallon old!

Just checked mine and there's no movement that I can see, I've run about 3 - 4 gallons through mine. The only play I've got on the swash is with the anti rotation pin as I must have filed the gap a little too much but, it's only a very small amount so I'll leave it.

Not sure if it will help but there are 3 grub screws on the swash that retain the bearing, they may need tightening if they've come loose, which may also remove any play in the ball.

Nope, not the bearing fit, which the 3 grub screws would sort.

Imagine you held the swash in one hand and with the other hand put thumb and index finger either side of the ball, there is vertical play in the ball relative to the swash (this is with the swash removed from the model of course).

On the model this translates to movement in the swash relative to the main shaft.

I will get it replaced, as I just removed it from the model and compared it to a 2 year old Trex swash and the play in the Rave one is about 2 times worse !!

Must have got a bad one from new, but not noticed will now.
