  • Rave 90 warning

Had an extremely lucky escape with the Rave today!

I was on about my 3rd flight of the day, starting to throw it around the sky a bit more and really enjoying myself. This flight i had upped the swash travel up to 60% to get it feeling a litle more nippy, half the tank through and thought i'll see how it rolls with the more movement.. well it was completely on the pi** very worrying as i was definately only using aileron and it about went in, so landed very quickly to see what was going on, a close inspection of the head revealed that the two anti-rotation pins down from the head block WERE COMPLETELY MISSING. They had worked their way free in flight. Really not impressed as this could have cost me the model and possibly more..

Anyone else had similar? and those waiting to fly theirs i HIGHLY RECOMMEND testing the pins are in securely!

looks like i should have done a bit more research then :/. would have been nice if curtis would have told us lot too though..

Are the pins available as a spare part?

yeahh i was so lucky to get it down, it has given me some more confidence in the ball links (y).

And to add to todays misery my 600 throttle servo and clutch went in the first flight. such a beautiful day but not alot of heli flying

I am sure if you contact CYE Brian will replace the pins for you but maybe you should contact the uk supplier first (Climbout) IF all else fails I have a brand new headblock you can borrow as mine is flybarless.

Thanks Rachel on behalf of Jack to be honest i am very angry that this issue has not been made common nowledge this could have distroyed the model and as jacks sponser would not have been good.

yeahh thanks rachel, me and dad will have a chat and see what's best to do. Don't really want to bother midland as the issue wasn't their fault. would you be able to PM me some contact numbers for the people named please? .

Thinking about it, the model could have killed me or someone in the pits behind me.. all because the issue wasn't raised and i had to find out for myself. It's a big issue in the states so how come the uk hasn't been informed about it All it would take is for the suppliers (climbout) to contact the uk shops asking them to notify the people who have bought the kit, issue raised, everyone knows, simples.

cheers Alex, the model will be at the fly-ins and comps next year where it'll be getting some stick

Hi I do agree the importer should have spread the word after all I bet there arnt many kits out yet.

I feel very bad for you as I knew about this issue after reading a post on helifreak so I am very sorry I just assumed everyone knew or I would (and should have ) repeated the post.

Thank heavans you were ok and landed it.

The one thing I know is CYE (Next D) & curtis is their reputation & customer feedback is second to none so I would expect this to be sorted asap.

                    PM is on its way.

Anyway what did you think of the rave ???????????

                    'S xxxx Rachel

ohhh no its not your fault rachel, its not your job to let us know about issues lol. thanks a lot for the PM will most likely be getting in touch with them later.

it is soo stable and it rolls on a penny (with the head pins still in place) but its weird in the hover, i can trim it out till virtually hands off tail in, but when its side on its way off, tracking towards the wind :s really strange. but otherwise dead happy with it, no vibration at all

The flybar is having too much input into the blades would be my guess - not sure if the head is adjustable on the ENV, but if it is then reduce the flybar ratio. Alternatively, try different paddles.

Glad you managed to get the machine down in one piece and thanks for posting the warning. For some reason we have not been notified that any machines had been released to us with potential pin issues. Normally we do keep up to date with any issues affecting machines but for some reason have missed this. We will be writing out to our dealers with this information tonight, along with details of the fix.

If anybody is any doubt whatsover about whether their machine is affected please contact us directly at Climb Out and we will be happy to help. Thanks again for the heads up!
