  • Why are the Ballistic 635's being discounted?

Has the 635 been discontinued or something? Seem to be discounts on the Ballistic all over.

Although I've not seen the Radix 625mm blades in stock anywhere, maybe its not popular due to lack of blade choice?

You can always fit the ENV boom/TT and run longer blades. I would think there's a fair choice out there in the 620 to 630 range these days though.

I am probably seeing what you're seeing dotted around here and there and it's making me wonder if it's worth converting my ENV to a ballistic, I need to look into the pros and cons.

Not sure how much you can pick up a 635 for now Pete/Sheryl but the conversion from ENV to Ballistic is £300 ish. Personally if I could pick up a 635 for anywhere close to £300 I'd buy it and stretch it with the ENV boom as what you end up with is an even lighter 700 size Ballistic. The only negative is the 635 OWB is a normal roller type as opposed to the far superior sprag that the ENV/Ballistc 700 comes with. The Ballistic electric is a much nicer machine (IMO) than a converted to electric ENV as it's direct to swash, sliding battery tray etc etc.

I love all my Raves but I think the ENV is a better nitro personally and if you want a Rave electric get the Ballistic as it's fantastic machine.

Do you know what is required to stretch a 635? I've just sold my trex 700e due to no time to fly it so probably wont be rushing out to buy one but they do look good. I'm not sure I understand the difference between the 635 and the 700 ballistic.

Roughly 90% of the parts are shared between the 635/700 Ballstic and the ENV. The main difference between the 635 and 700 Ballstic are the frame is slightly thinner on the 635 and the 635 has shorter boom/TT and boom supports. All three models share all other parts, the Ballistic canopy is also different. Either canopy will fit with a bit of modification if needed, I have an ENV canopy rigged up for night flying that goes on my Ballstic.
The Ballstic comes with a mod1 slant cut main gear as standard but is the same tooth count so the straight cut main gear from the ENV is a straight fit, I got rid of the slant gear as I wanted all three of my Raves to run the same parts.
The 635 is a little on the heavy side as a 600 as it uses all 700 parts but stretch it with the 700 boom/TT and boom supports and it then makes a light 700 size heli as the frame is lighter.

The Ballistic is no where near as popular here in the UK as it is in America & Canada where there are hundreds of them flying. I've owned both an ENV (electric Version) and a Ballistic, and although I sold my ENV late last year, I kept my Ballistic as it is by far, the best heli I've ever owned.

In fact I've just replaced all the ball links, fitted a new Kontronic motor and treated it to a new Insane canopy for this years flying season.

I have to say the Rave 450 I had was nice. I have to say I'd love to swap my 500 for one. It's tempting to buy one of the 635's and keep it boxed up in case the bug gets me again and I get more flying time.

The Ballistic is a very underrated heli in the UK which is a shame as it's the best electric heli I've owned, they just work and are so simple.

Cant beat an Insane canopy Gary, the quality is fantastic.

Both of those look amazing! I really like the colour co-ordinated boom and tail blades as well

Can the canopy mounts on the Ballistic be moved to where the position is the same as the Rave so that Rave canopies can just fit straight on? It looks like they're just a bit higher on the Ballistic.

Yep, just a simple case of moving the posts Sheryl.

I just re drilled the ENV canopy I turned into my night flyer as wanted to be able to use the standard Ballistic canopy when not night flying so didn't want to move the posts, especially now that I bought two Ballistic Canomod canopies in the FL sale for £28!!! Result.

Yeah, I have four ENV Canopies so Ideally I wouldn't want to have to drill more holes in them. I have to see how things pan out this month. Quick UK has the Ballistic conversion frame kit for something like £221 but money will be tight this month unless the payment for one of my freelance jobs comes through and then I'd definitely get the kit and convert my ENV.

One of our club members converted his ENV to a Ballistic and I really liked the simplicity of it all. I assume the 635 is the same since it's sharing parts.

I love my Ballistic too. They are really great helicopters. It is odd that they are so overlooked in the Uk it would seem
