  • Rave 450 ????????????

Im toying with the idea of building a Rave 450 ! Probably a flybarless one using the TotalG set up with 4s etc. Can anybody give me any feedback please. I have built 3 Trex 450 pros in the last 12 months and just get bored with them so the Rave 450 might be the way to go ????????

can be expensive to repair, looks great, wouldnt get another though, if I was going to go out and get a 450 size tomorrow it would be the pro.

The repair bill is always going to be expensive, but i was looking a flyability rather than the cost. The 450 pros I had were great and bounced reasonably well on impact and cheap to repair, I just fancied something different. I have a 550 fbl and and an Avant E but wanted another 450 for the winter etc.

I bought one of the first batch of Rave 3D 450 helicopters and can assure you never again.

Kept it 3 weeks and moved it on.

I would hope the later versions are much better but the Align 450 Pro wins hands down IMO.

Hi i have had 3 of them and can say when they are good they are Very Good,...... but I was never 100% happy but I would definatly go flybarless for sure !!!!

            A good set up

            Scorpion 2221-10
            Radix 350's
            KBDD tails
            4S 2200 mah
            Ice 50 light
            mini G
            or
            Quark
Rear tail servo mount (better c of g with 4S)
I had JR DS 386 on cyclics but not very impressed go futaba or hitec.

All In all a Very expensive model to put together when we live in a very windy country.

For my money try the new Gaui X5 ??????

of flying now If you need anything let me know

I was very impressed seeing Mark Christy flying the Rave 450. Even on a pretty windy day it seemed to fly quite a bit bigger than you'd expect for a heli that size.

But I think if I was going to look at an alternative 450 I'd check out the Outrage G5 as well.

Ummm, no he isn't mad This is not a Trex we're talking about.

'Just to add, it may be possible to fit a longer tail on your 450 pro Waz, if the
boom and TT from Phoenixtech would fit, just a thought. Then you could run the longer blades
but I tend to think this may not be advantageous because you'd probably
have to drop the headspeed via a smaller pinion, then you may lose some tail
authority and in the end you may not really gain anything, but that's just me
                        thinking out loud.

Always been a little daring! the Rave 450 is a little bigger then a Trex 450 so the 350 blades on 4s is perfect for good hard 3D... with the bigger blades it just sits in the air rock solid. I started of with SAB 320mm blades with Scorpion 2221-6 using 3s 2200mAh Turnigy packs and got 5mins out of her. Then put on the 350mm blades & got 3.5 mins so went upto 4s Turnigy packs and now get 5mins of 3D & awesome enjoyment

'Just curious, what size 4 cell packs are you using?

I did an experiment of stretching my Trex 450SE using an Outrage boom and I briefly tried the Outrage GRP 350mm blades but it didn't feel as good as it had before with 335 carbons. I think this was due to the stock Align motor on 3 cells not really being up to the task (and maybe needing stiffer dampers).

I have a Scorpion 2221-8 but I don't think I could get away with running it on 4 cells with the Trex gearing (150 tooth main gear being the limiting factor).
