After spending the last three months debating which 450 heli to purchase to replace my ageing Mini titan I decided to go with the Rave 450 and after its maiden flight today I am one very happy bunny!!!!!!

I have enjoyed building it, not one screw rounded or snapped, everything went together perfectly and the rotor head is a real work of art.

I fitted the scorpion 2221-8 with a 12 tooth pinion and maverrik 335's blades but I found this set up to be too calm, so the 13 tooth pinion will be fitted tomorrow.

But the bit that impressed me the most is the lack of any slop in any of the head and tail components and when it lifted into its first hover that no trim was needed, it just sat there with very little corrective input from me (and its windy here today)

The only negative thing I would say is that I am not that keen on the tail servo mount (Its a bit too flexible), so I may make the upgrade to the boom mount conversion kit.

So I am looking forward to a calm day so I can do the final tweaks too the pitch/throttle curves and adjust the blade tracking.

I can recommend this heli to anyone who are looking for a quality 450 machine because I am going to enjoy flying this one.

When fitting the tail servo, you did use the two carbon plates? Ask me how I know. I found cynoing the two together really helped

Yes I did use both plates, it doesn't flex that much, I am just being picky really, the servo seems out of place to me because of the way it sticks out of the side.

My 3 choices I had narrowed down to were the 450 sport,Beam E4 and the Rave. You won't be disappointed with the Rave.

Cyclic servo's I have used are the Align 410m's, I bought these before I had seen the negative reports on them, although I have had no problem with them so far, on reflection I should have gone for the Hitec 5065mg servo's.

I am using the GY401 with an align DS520, I have found these two to be a good combination, the align 750 is another good gyro to use there a few coming up for sale on the forum at the moment at very good prices due to people going FBL.
