  • Nodding Rave 450

    Hi

Has anyone had problems with their Rave nodding.
    I am running a 4s setup on 350 blades and 14t pinion.
    Tryed 100 85 100, 100 90 100 and 100 95 100 idle up curves and I still get the nodding.
I have also glued the dampers to the headblock now.
The heli has never been crashed as well.

dampers are usually greased to allow ease of movement in the headblock, not glued to stop them moving! how old are the packs, what sort of condition are they in? Have you got a charger that has the ability to measure the cells internal resistance's?

Had the same problem with the mini titan...check the centre of gravity...I had to lower the battery tray so i could slide the lipos back or forth to get the right balance.

        Cheers

its recommended by next-d to glue them in to prolong their life otherwise they wear out too quick, they wanted them to be a snugger fit than they currently are.

i would have said glued dampners wont help... how you gonna get em out when they go if you have glued them? Most nodding problems are usually shot dampners or lack of headspeed. Im taking it the 14t is the stock pinion for that setup?

              Hi

This is a new setup so everything is new.

              Exact setup:

              Kokam 30C 2100mah
              Scorpion 2221-10 motor
              Scorpion 60A V2 controller
              Radix 350 blades

Can't think of anything else that could affect the nodding.
Think the headspeed is a good 3000 as well.

Take the head dampers out and give them a good greasing, i didn't like the idea of gluing the dampers so just stuffedthem full of grease, i give mine alot of stick and i am still on the original dampers after 4 months so am happy with that

I found the dampers wear out fairly quickly on the Rave, and worn dampers will cause nodding. My hunch would be to replace them and see if the nodding goes?

                    Cheers,
                    Rob

Only had about 6 flights on it so the dampers shouldn't be worn yet ?

How much play is there on the feathering spindle?
Grab a blade grip in each hand and try to rock them back and forth across the head block.

You might be suprised (or not).

If it's not the dampers, it's sure to be headspeed related.

                        Cheers,
                        Rob

agree totally with rob, I found with my 450, because the spindle didnt fit properly it could be fitted too tight which caused the nodding, had to play with mine with shims to get it right.,

but Id look at something to do with the dampners or headspeed as has already been said
                          All the best
